“in the middle of GOD's country”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

We stopped at this Hotel not knowing what to expect and I thought I woke up at the Wynn in Las Vegas ! The bed was so comfortable, the room was clean & a Jacuzzi tub in the master suite was perfect after a long drive. We had just drove 12 hours on a 36 hour moving trip from Ft. Drum NY, and had car trouble, Jeannie & Justin were more than polite & helpful, as we waited for parts to come in from Omaha, I would go back there again, just to stay as a relaxing time away from all the hustle & bustle.

Room Tip: Jacuzzi tub in the master suite

Great little hotel - check in was easy and the young lady behind the counter who was a graduate of Concordia University did a great job. She was polite, helpful and interested in what I was in Seward for as well.

The room was spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. The large screen flat screen had excellent sound and visual. The bathroom was nice, although I think hand cream would be an added bonus that most hotels offer. The frig was larger and held all of our drinks, and the AC was great. The wi-fi worked great, but a nice side chair for sitting to read or watch TV would be a great addition in a king room with two people, otherwise someone always has to use the bed to sit when both in the room.

We used the pool and it was nice, but a spa jacuzzi seems to be needed in a hotel where you are paying $100 a night. Just saying, and this one oversight along with one other thing kept me from giving you an excellent rating. We did use the outside sun lounge area by the pool, but there were a lot of cigarette butts in the sidewalk cracks. When barefooted coming out of the pool this is unsightly and made you feel dirty. Please clean these and the bugs mentioned below.

The breakfast was tasty and warm - really nice selection of foods and well stocked and cared for. The reception area was nice, along with the wine bar, although we did not use it nor did we use the pantry. Our room was quiet all evening even thought the hotel was sold out.

The only other negative I noticed was a lot of dead bugs in the stairwells. I suspect that an exterminator had just sprayed, but being on the second floor, we used the stairs a lot especially for the pool in our flip flops and this area should have been vacuumed more often.

The parking was easy, although as someone else noted the boulders near some of the spaces and in the driveway did create a desire to drive more carefully. They really aren't needed and nice landscape with flowers in larger ports would create the same effect. But we will return to this nice hotel in Seward as we frequently come to Seward and this is the nicest choice in the area presently.

There is a $1.50 charge for the use of the safe in the room, but they will credit it back if you don't use it - but you have to remember to ask.

Thank you for a nice stay.

I find myself passing by the numerous Hotels & Motels along I-80 in Western Iowa as well as Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska to stay at this gem that is just slightly off the I. A newer property, they know the meaning of hospitality and show it often. Great rooms, great amenities, outstanding hot breakfast and all for much less than you might expect. I will continue to stay with Cobblestone Inns & Suites and feel this is one of the up and comers in the Hospitality business. Tichiganblues

Watch out for the ill placed boulders in the parking lot.... I racked up the rental car bumper on one. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, adorable little short front desk attendant guy. Nice breakfast. Close to highway and mcdonalds.

Although the hotel was very nice and the clerk very accomondating, it is not user friendly for a person in a wheelchair, When I made reservations, I asked for a handicap accessible room since one person in our group was in a wheelchair. The room had a high threshold at the door, the Bathroom was not large enough for the wheelchair to easily go in. There was no way to postion the wheelchair next to the toilet for tranferring the perosn onto toilet. There was only one handrail for the toilet instead of two. We had to rearrange/move the furniture in the room to be able to push the wheelchaird past the entry way and even then we had to keep moving her to get past. The bed was too high for a person in a wheelchair to transfer into. So that left the sofa sleeper which was difficult also since the wheelchair barely fit between it and the bed leaving no room for a person to assist. The front door also has a high threshold so it was hard to push the chair over it. The front lobby doors do not have handnicap openers, but even without a handicap opener, the doors should have had the ability to be pushed to stay open. If we had known all this ahead of time, we would not have stayed over for the night.

We enjoy our stays at the Cobblestone every time. The staff is accommodating and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The breakfast is enjoyable and they even have Happy Hour! Plus freshly baked cookies! It's a small town with a wonderful hotel!

Room Tip: The second floor is quieter, however, you have to take the stairs.

This hotel/motel is convenient to all locations in Seward and to events occurring at Concordia University Nebraska. It is relatively new (about 2 years) – so new that there is no sign out on the road to identify it. There is a sign says “Open Now” which we took to be referring to the Cobblestone. We were well treated from the moment we arrived. The manager, George, was at the front desk, greeted us very pleasantly and handled the registration efficiently. The room was tastefully decorated although perhaps a bit simply. The beds were comfortable – completely satisfactory for sleeping. No backache in the morning! With TV, microwave oven, refrigerator, iron and ironing board (did I leave out anything?) there was nothing that we were lacking. The Internet service came wirelessly or wired. I needed to supply my own wire and crawl under the desk to plug it into the wall port (the port on the lamp base was unconnected). That was a minor inconvenience because once plugged in it remained for the next three days. The Internet service was quick and open so one should have the usual protections on one’s computer. When we asked about switching the TV from the DVD player to broadcast TV, George came right away to show us how. The breakfast provided always had a hot item and then an array of other items either hot (e.g., waffles) or cold (e.g., yogurt), etc. On the last day, when the hot item was not something my wife could eat due to dietary sensitivities Kathy made a special effort to provide something that she could eat. She would not have had to do that. She could have just said, “I only provide what is on the menu for today” but she did not. She is to be commended for going to the extra effort. One small item – the dialing instructions on the phone omitted the needed 7 to preface the room number when dialing room-to-room (the Guest Directory had it correct but I generally look at the phone first). I did not try the pool or the fitness center (two machines in a room with guest laundry machines and a TV - but if you are going to do 30 minutes on a treadmill what else do you need?). The photos on the Web site are ANSICT accurate and appropriately represent the facility.
One outstanding difficulty could be that the facility does not have an elevator to the second floor and the exterior doors do not have power operators which appear to be exceptions or optional under ADA regulations (4.1.3 Accessible Buildings: New Construction see http://www.ada-compliance.com/ada-accessible-elements-space). However, the staff seemed to be extremely concerned about the access to the second floor. One person attending the same function as we were was assigned a room on the second floor and she had difficulty with stairs. The attendant at the front desk took the effort to call the guests on the first floor to find out if any would be willing to switch to a room on the second to allow this person to have a first-floor room. Eventually a switch was accomplished thanks to the extra effort of that staff person.
Overall – a very comfortable stay with clean, well-kept rooms, a good complimentary breakfast and a very attentive staff.

Room Tip: Ask for 1st floor if you or someone with you has trouble with stairs.
