We met family here as we headed for Wyoming and they were heading home to Papillion, NE. My husband I split the special of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and glazed carrots! It was delicious and just the right amount! Great comfortable atmosphere and great service! Highly recommend!

I debated between four and five stars for this Plains icon; since it's a real must-see if you're out there, five it is.

The taxidermy and the story behind it is every bit as impressive as you would think. This is a true Nebraska legend - with great food, too. The menu isn't innovative - it's pure Nebraska steakhouse - but there's not one thing wrong with that, especially if there's a picky eater in the group. I recommend the sweet potatoes.

And, yes, they do serve mountain oysters. They're done as well here as anywhere, so if you're curious, this is your chance. (They are very good, btw.)

This was a great treat to return to Ole's a terrific restaurant with an atmosphere that is not to be repeated anywhere. If you do not like to see dead animals, do not go. But it is unique in the world now. The food is hometown delicious and beef is unbeatable Nebraska Black Angus. Service is also really great!

We came on a Saturday night before 5:00 and we didn't have a problem getting a table-it still was pretty quiet. It was quaint with lots of wild game from floor ceiling. We had just come in from a big rain storm so we both wanted comfort food. Nothing like hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy that says comefort food. It was warm and delicious

Passing through I-80 Westbound for Colorado and found this place on the web. Persuaded wife and teenage daughter to try it out after 10 pm on weekday. We were "dog tired."

The level of taxidermy swallows one up as you walk into Ole's. It was amazing. They had every stuffed animal except maybe the rare White Rhino. I felt like I walked into the Chicago Field Museum.

Chatted with locals a bit and sat down. Waiter was very prompt and helpful. Food was basic but solid. Lots of good prime rib.

All in all a great time in Western NE.

Cheers to Ole, but how could he afford to go on all those safaris in the 50s-80s?

Check it out and perhaps solve this mystery.

Thank M S
