“Can't understand negative reviews of this nice motel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

After reading some of the negatives we almost cancelled our overnight here, however we have traveled extensively and were up for a challenge. From check in to check out we were very pleased with our experience. Yes this is an older motel much like the ones found along the ancillary highways or the Fla. Keys. Our room 132 was spotless, the furnishings were dated but clean and well kept. The room was spacious with 2 tables and chairs and a king bed. Internet access and TV worked well. There were construction workers from the interstate staying there, all polite young men who petted our dogs and spoke when they passed us. Breakfast was delightful. homemade steak burritos, bacon and egg english muffins. There was a crock pot full of homecooked oatmeal and another with ham and potatoes that were delicious. Over all it was more like a bed and breakfast or country inn experience. If you like predictable cookie cutter places to stay than maybe this is not for you. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: ask for a room in the back away from I-80

We made a last-minute to stay here and found our accommodations to be very comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were quiet. Especially with the nice breakfast included, I was very satisfied with my stay. We had drinks and an appetizer at the attached restaurant...and the food and service there was also good.

Stopped at this place off the I-80 as it was getting too late to continue to drive on. There are several hotel / motel nearby, stopped at this one because I enjoyed other Best Westerns.

First of all, the entire property looked old and tired. The room we had was old, it looked nothing like the picture posted on this site. Not sure if the property has some new rooms and some old ones in need of a face-lift?

The pros: The room interior is pretty clean, water pressure is strong. Flat screen TV.

The cons: "Paper-thin" wall and window. We could hear the conversation clearly whenever someone walked by the door, trust the reverse is also true.

Don't know about other rooms, for the room we were given, it is no where near Best Western quality. Don't understand why its ranked # 1 for this location, the other properties must be bad for this to be true...

Where to start. Well, I should have known when I had to drive through a truck stop/truck wash to get to this motel. But I tried not to judge, because my husband has driven big trucks so we went on in to check in. The lobby was decent and the lady at the desk was pleasant enough. She explained that because the motel was being inspected that day and several employees went back to school that they were very short staffed and our room was not ready. So we sat down and relaxed after a 12 hour drive and figured it would not be too long. Then I noticed one of the staff curled up in a chair in the lobby on her laptop and another on the desk top computer next to her. Then a man came through watering the plants as if there was nothing else to be done. He told us he was the owner and my husband and I just stared at one another. You have guests waiting on housekeeping and three of you are just wasting time instead of being in the trenches with your workers? I was really taken aback. So I walked around the complex to check it out. The grounds seemed overgrown and unkept. The pool was so old that the tile was nasty, the diving board had been removed yet the "pipe" was still sticking out about 3 feet. Looked like an accident waiting to happen. I walked around the corner to the area where our room was. It had been cleaned but the sheets had not been replaced. A young lady said she would be done with it in two hours. ?? Two hours ?? So we took a drive out to the Lake which was very pretty, came back an hour and a half later and still no room. I decided maybe we should drive on, but we were totally wiped out so we told another lady at the desk we would go eat and be back. (The restaurant is a WHOLE other review....) When we returned the room was ready. We unpacked along with several "work" trucks with hot tar roofers around them. The smell from the tar was very strong but we went on in, took a shower and at 7pm fell into bed. Unfortunately, the roofers decided to grill out by their trucks and drink. I TOTALLY understand needing to unwind. Finally, we passed out from exhaustion. We got up early to start our second leg of the trip. When we entered the lobby the smell of "breakfast" was SO strong and it wasn't bacon and eggs! It was a huge crock pot with a soup/stew cooking. I grabbed a banana, coffee and scurried out to the car. There was nowhere to sit inside as the roofers were all in the breakfast room, but I could not have sat in there anyway because of the smell of that stew. I have traveled all over the world and never seen a more unappetizing dish put out.
This was BY far the worst motel we have stayed in. Please be careful in this area as it felt unsafe. Older folks need to be careful walking around it, for the tiles are very uneven and slick. Usually we like Best Westerns but we are done with them. We have decided we would rather pay a little more and enjoy the experience. If we EVER travel interstate 80 again I would stay in Kearney which seemed to have a wonderful selection of hotels and restaurants. Live and learn!

Note to the owners. Your plants can wait. Your computers can wait. Take pride and make your motel a more beautiful place. It certainly needs attention. Never again!

I called ahead to various hotels as we drove from Colorado through Nebraska, and the prices I got in eastern Colorado and western Nebraska were all absurdly high. Then I called the Stagecoach and, based on Tripadvisor reviews, booked a room for roughly $90, with tax. Fabulous choice. The bed was new and comfy--we had a king-size--and the room was as quiet as you can expect something to be on I80. We had a view of the courtyard, which was a nice grassed-in area. Breakfast was wonderful--fresh fruit, plus egg and bacon muffins, breakfast burritos, waffles, pancakes, yogurt. And the kitchen staff was on hand to freshen the servings and to keep the place clean. All in all, an excellent place to stay. I only gave it a very good because the air conditioning kept coming off and on in our room, but that could have been because the weather was changing. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: It would be quieter to have a room on the side not facing the interstate. You would not have the co...

We stopped here while driving from Minneapolis to Denver. Large room, very clean, very comfortable bed and pillows. Outside corridors allowed us to park outside our room which was nice for quick unloading/loading. Good expanded continental breakfast. Great steakhouse adjacent where we shared a wonderful ribs dinner. Price was good considering there are very few decent hotels between Ogallala and Denver. Didn't use the pools, but the property was well-kept. Hotel is well back from the highway so very quiet. We called while on the road for our reservation, which was good since they were almost full when we arrived early evening.

Room Tip: No elevators and outside corridors, so a first floor room off the parking lot allows you to park rig...

Our family had traveled from Fort Laramie to Scottsbluff and Chimney Rock on this 102 degree summer day. We were so thankful for the refreshing waters of the large indoor/outdoor pool. I had lots of laundry to do that night, too, but was able to fit that in between splashes in the pool with the kids. The hot/cold breakfast choices the next morning were delicious and plentiful. Enjoyed good WiFi connection, though we were too tired for TV watching. The western town on Ogallala is just north over the UP railroad tracks and features a fascinating Petrified Rock Museum just to the east of the main intersection.

Room Tip: There are both indoor and outdoor entrances to the rooms to choose from. The pool/spa is in the inn...
