“Better than the other steakhouse”
Reviewed August 25, 2011

We walked out of the other steakhouse, the one by the Best Western. Noisy and not a good feel. Front Street has a better ambiance. Steaks are ok, not a gourmet meal, but served with a good side of veggies.

“Confusing to Find, and Not Worth the Effort”
Reviewed October 27, 2010

No where in front of this place will you find the words "Front Street Steakhouse." It does say something like Front Street Saloon and Cafe. You'll find it eventually.

Once inside, you'll wish there were better options in Ogallala.

“Show Better than Dinner”
Reviewed August 17, 2010

I would highly recommend eating elsewhere and then come later for the show.
We arrived half an hour before our reservations so we could have time to tour the museum. Our waitress seemed put out that we didn't want to eat immediately. ( We still sat down before our reservation time. )
Then she questioned the ages of our children and acted as if she didn't believe us that they were still young enough for a child's ticket.
The service was one of the worst we've ever experienced. While ordering dinner we spilled a drink on the table. She said, " I'll get a towel", but she didn't come back for 5 min. and the whole table was flooded by then. She didn't bring us anymore napkins either. She also didn't offer to give us a replacement drink.
When we finished our first round of drinks we waited a good 5 min. before she came back around for a drink order. When she didn't come back with the drinks after another 10 min. we went to the bar and asked and it still took another 5 min. to get them.
When she brought dinner she didn't bring 2 of the sides we had ordered. After 2 more inquiries and another 10 min. we were given "lightly" steamed veg., instead of the grilled veg. we had ordered. I wish I had ordered a salad instead.
We had eaten here several years previously and the food was MUCH better the 1st time.
After dinner everyone must exit to the parking lot for the shootout and re-enter for the show. ( Our waitress also told us that we had to go get our show tickets ourselves. )
The show lasted 1 hour and 45 min. It was very funny and entertaining. It was a follies type show, not the typical saloon show I had expected. While good, keep in mind that the performers are high school and college students, not veteran performers.
Having been here twice I'd say that was enough. It's OK for what it is, but you'll have a much better time in Dodge City, Kansas.

“Great restaurant attached to little museum”
Reviewed December 21, 2009

The Front Street in Ogallala was a great place for us to stop on our way to Iowa from Denver. We left in the morning and stopped in there for lunch. There is a little museum attached and a shop called McKinzie's with some cool stuff, so plan a little extra time to browse, if you can. The food in the restaurant was great. It's not the cheapest place in town, but for the extra atmosphere and the friendly locals, it was an excellent place to eat. We will definately return. I think they do a wild west show in the summer.
