The food was good and atmosphere was western. A good place to stop and eat. Prime rib specials some night. My spouse said it was good ! I had a burger....was also good.

Thank Christine M

Open Range restaurant on the way to Lake McCounaghy or into Ogallala, Nebraska is a drover's dream. Big local grass-fed burgers piled high with real rootin, tootin good time ingredients of your choice like fried eggs, bacon, mushrooms caramelized oinons, grilled jalapenos and multiple melted cheese selections. Your choice of grilled kaiser, onion, sourdough, jalapeno or brioche bun grilled just right holds the loaded sandwich. If you are daring ask for 'THE BIG BULL' which is not on the menu. It includes the succulent juicy local burger found on all of their burgers with the added twist of rocky mountain oysters spiced up with a mayo, smoked cheddar, jalapenos and carmelized onions. Their fries or a substitute of sweet potato fries on the side complete the feast! Have a beer on tap or go with some of their bottled beer described on their menu as fancy or extra fancy beer. Come and get it when the ranch house dinner bell rings! Be sure to check out the local photos on the walls and the special area for antzy little uns' waiting for chow that is full of coloring books and other creative activities.

About 1 mile off of Interstate 80 you'll find homemade food that beats the fast food freeway joints. Mainly burgers ($7-9.00) all hand formed and grilled to order. Even a veggie burger! Salads, hand cut fries, and a nice selection of craft beers on tap make this side trip worth the drive. Definitely locals and not a tourist trap.

Beautiful indoor decor, friendly staff, and tasty food are sure to relieve any hungry traveler. I had the high noon hamburger (with fried egg and pico) and sweet potato fries. For the hamburgers, you even get to pick your own style of bun! Very reasonable and very enjoyable: go check it out!

Open Range grill is about 1 mile out of town and it is definitely not a tourist trap. The customers are mainly locals. The menu is mainly burgers and salads. The meat is superb and the prices are very reasonable. You order at the counter, choose your own table and the friendly waitresses bring your food to you. They have a very good selection of beers. The atmosphere is "cowboy".
