We stayed at this hotel with our three kids at the last minute on our way home to Omaha from Colorado. We decided to try and say a few bucks (bad choice) and reserved a room with two double beds for $99. We knew as soon as we drove up we'd made the wrong choice. The outside looked old and there was a section of the hotel that was a Motel - doors on the outside directly into rooms. This was the section our room was in, of course. When we walked in the musty/moldy smell hit us right away. While the room looked clean, I just couldn't get over the outdated furnishings and smell. We called and asked for a better room and they gave us one that had been 'remodeled' in the hotel section.

While this room was slightly better - the mattresses were at least newer looking, the a/c made a noise all night long and there were NO windows to the outside - isn't that a fire hazard?

And then there were the bugs. Not in our room, but outside, in the hallways too. They even had a note in the room about them - they are some kind of beetle that has invaded the area. Gross, to say the least.

When checking out, the person at the front desk didn't even ask how our stay was. Probably because he knew he'd get an earful!!

There are plently of other options just across the street - Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn, etc. I would never recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you MUST stay here, request a room that has been updated.

This hotel is large and right off I-80. Our room was accessed from outside and was somewhat old and grungy. (There are other rooms that can be accessed from an indoor corridor.) The property seems to be in need of a make-over. The exercise room was usable. The pool was a decent size but quite cool. The breakfast was substantial with more options than a typical continental--but the food was nothing to shout about. Would try to find another place to stay next time.

Rooms smell damp. Numerous large black bugs crawling around. The mat in the tub was letting loose and there was hair and grime under the mat. The only redeeming thing about this hotel was the hot breakfast.

We picked this hotel for our sleeping head quarters for a family reunion (9 rooms). My Aunts were kind enough to do the research and get us a great group rate at the hotel known to be one of the nicest places to stay in North Platte. We were quite shocked to see what we walked into. We all had ground floor rooms located on the south side of the hotel and everyone seemed to have some sort of complaint. Here they are:
1. Bugs- they were everywhere. We had beetle bugs in the bathroom area, spider webs above the lights and curtain rods with bugs stuck in them. Flys everywhere because they clean the rooms with the doors open. The front desk also let us that we were going to have bugs in the room because every place had bugs. Nice standards. (all 9 rooms had complaints)
2. Cleanliness- the rooms did not feel clean. Paint was peeling in spots all over the rooms and bathroom. Wall paper coming off walls and tiles in the bathroom area were stained so they looked dirty. All the hall ways we used to get into building were covered in dead bugs. We wouldn't let our 10 month old crawl around the room, not would I take my shoes off for any reason. Not saying it was really dirty but it looked like it.
3. Breakfast was bad the first day and better the second day. Breakfast staff is AWESOME though.
4. Noisy rooms - this is out of hotels control but thought to mention it.
5. HotHotHot! - the hallway from the south wing that was In between the pool and our rooms was on average 100°. No one was very excited to go in or out of their room. The AC units didn't work very well.
6. Double beds? Should really try and budget for upgrade to 2 queen beds.
7. Took maintenance 1 hour and 2 phone calls to service one of our rooms.

This hotel just needs to show some love to these rooms on the outter side of the hotel and then maintain!

We needed wifi and it was advertised on the hotel's electronic display and confirmed at the desk. After checking in and hauling everything upstairs to our room we could not get any signal, period. I called the front desk and was told there was nothing they could but that I could "call the guy." So, I "called the guy." After a half hour of my time on the phone with the IT guy the problem could not be resolved. Do not stay here if you actually need a working wireless connection.

For Choice Hotels customers traveling across I-80, there should be no choice....stay at the brand-new Comfort Suites only 34 miles EAST on North Platte in Gothenburg, NE.
315 Platte River Drive Gothenburg, NE, US, 69138

This was an outdated, creepy, spiders-in-corners, crumbs-behind-the-bed, toenails-under-bedskirt, outside-door, old-convention center motor lodge.

On top of that, I asked for a roll-away bed, and just found out they charged my credit card
$11.42!

Never again.

We were weary on the 5th day of 'tent camping' and decided to take a time-out in this hotel. The rooms are spacious - and after a problem the prior night, management DID get the internet up and running upon request. Prices are more reasonable than most along I-80 - though we didn't know until afterwards.

A voucher is given at the adjoining Denny's for breakfast. Not bad if you care for more than a cold meal. Coffee is not so good.

Room Tip: Try to face the courtyard to minimize freeway noise.
