“Nice view”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

Rode the motorcycles to North Platte to see the Spike. It was interesting, sorta shocked they charged for the trip up the elevator. Especially after all the charges and delays that customers get from Union Pacific on the freight end...lol.

Staff consisted of retired railroaders that very well versed. The longer you stay up there and listen to all the questions that they are posed...the more interesting it was. It was worth the trip, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it again.

“Great!! - Bailey Yard Bus Tour at Railfest 2012”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012

We went on the bus tour of Bailey Yard during Railfest in North Platte and it was great. The guide from Railfest did a great job giving us information about North Platte and the area, plus UP's Bailey Yard. We started at Cody Park and when we got to the Diesel Shop at the Bailey yard, a UP employee gave aboard the bus and did the rest of the tour. It was very informative and interesting. We got to see a lot of the yard and he had a lot to tell us about the yard from the old days to present. When we returned to the Diesel Shop, there were several locomotives we could take pictures of from the Heritiage series. If you are or are not a train lover, this is a great place to visit with a lot of history and important information about our American past and future. We loved it and will return for another tour some day.

“Spike Visitor”

Visited the spike and viewed the RR yard. Five minutes there was good enough for me. Seeing it once was enough.

“A really interesting tour.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2012

This tour was arranged for two groups attending a convention. Everything was well organized and the bus was comfortable. They had bottles of water waiting for us as we got off the bus (it was a very hot day) to go to the viewing platform in the huge building where they do maintenance. Afterwards we reboarded the bus and had a tour all over the yard. It was fascinating to watch the rolling stock being sent down 'the hump' to various sidings for incorporation into various freight areas. Later we had a tour of the part of the community college where engineers are trained for Union Pacific. An interesting tour even if you're not a real train buff.
