“Can we get a refund?”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Paid $13 to get us in, watch a 5 minute video & take an elevator ride to the top of the tower. The view from the tower was cool, but everything is so far away that it makes it tough to see things. You can pay more money to use their telescope if you'd like. All in all, I think we spent less than 30 mins here and it was not worth our time away from the road (it is a bit of a drive off of the hwy). It would've been nice to have some static displays to tour--- old defunct rail cars, locomotives, etc. The only positive was the the facilities were super clean.

“Train buffs must stop here.”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

It was great but the yard is so big you really can't see it all. They charge you to get to the top, but no surprise there.

“More trains than you can keep track of...”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

This is a prime unique stop between Kearney NB and Denver Co - especially if you are into railroading! There is a small museum at the base of the tower, but the view of the rail yard below - one of the largest I have ever seen - is quite amazing from an outdoor balcony, and an enclosed upper balcony area.

“It could be boring”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

This place is about freight train operation. The tower is a little bit far from the train yard in my opinion. If you want a good view of the trains, bring a binocular. The video they play in the lobby explains what is going on in the train yard otherwise, you see trains moving very slowly through the train yard it could be boring to some people like myself.

“A MUST SEE for Railroad Enthusiasts”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

What a fantastic facility for Railroad Fans and, although not owned by Union Pacific, the staff are very knowledgeable about the observed attractions.
All Rail Sorting Yards should have an observation tower.
