“Great Stop to Break Up a Long Journey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

If you are heading on a long drive, on Interstate 80 North Platte sits in the middle of a long stretch between Lincoln, 220 miles to the East - and Cheyenne, 220 miles to the West. You can get out and stretch your legs and enjoy this park which has a lot to offer. There are ball fields and an amusement park and a pool and much more, but I headed over to where there are some old locomotives.

Inside the railcars is a a nice (and free) museum detailing the growth of the railroads and their importance to this region. You can learn about how mail was processed and handled as well in an old mail car. There are lots of old photos and historical anecdotes and I felt it was not only well put together, but especially unique that the exhibit was inside the train itself.

I got gas in town and got back on the road with a deeper understanding for the part of the country I was traveling through. After all, I-80 parallels the route of the original transcontinental railroad. Places like Cody Park can add a lot of depth to your travel experience

“Cool place for kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

We stayed for one night in North Platte, and read about Cody Park while looking for a place to stay. What a great little treat this was.

The rides were great for our kids (4 and 1), and were cheap to boot. The young guys running the rides were very friendly, the girls had a blast!

I wouldn't expect too much, but it is a solid good time for kids.

“Beautiful place to escape "to"!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

We were to North Platte and picked up some lunch, and were looking for a place to eat. This park is a large, wonderfully treed, excellent place to enjoy the peace and quiet in the midst of the city. We had a nice picnic table, there was a good playground for kids, and our dog had a good walk too. A pleasant surprise were the trains on the north end of the park! Extra added bonus to a perfect fall afternoon!

“Fun place during Railfest 2012”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012

We were at Cody Park during Railfest 2012. We wandered around the park before it opened for Railfest and it is a very nice place. There seems to be something for everyone here. There have birds and animals, a swimming pool and trains on display too. During Railfest we looked at the booths in the park and the displays and enjoyed the park area. There were people from all across the country and world here, so it was great fun. There are picnic areas in the park as well, so if we come back here again at another time of year, we will be sure to take advance of what this park has to offer the public. It is a great place for families or other gatherings.
