The staff was very friendly. We stayed on July 3rd and people were lighting fireworks off right in the street right outside the hotel. The neighborhood seems a little rough. There are several restaurants within walking distance as well as a grocery store and many more within a short drive. I stay at Holiday Inn brand hotels across the country and this was far from the best, but their rates were a little better than others. The bathrooms in the rooms are very small and a bit dated. The pool and exercise areas were small and dated as well. Very strong chlorine. It was bothering my eyes and I never even got in the pool. I just sat outside the pool. We requested two adjoining rooms and were told ahead of time that is what we would get (two rooms with a connecting door). Instead we got two rooms next to one another, but not connected. Overall just very average. Front desk staff was very friendly, but I cannot say the same about the housekeeping staff.

I was looking for an alternative to staying downtown like I usually do and this hotel saved me $50 but was only 2 miles away. Very clean and roomy, excellent staff too, they even offered recommendations to nearby restaurants and ones on the Hey Market!
I will use this hotel from now on!

Room Tip: it is off the main HWY but look for the sign from the road. :-)

We were traveling with a large group, but only one desk clerk was available making checkin very slow. Room was good. Battery in smoke detector started beeping, and the desk clerk took care of it on the spot. We felt sorry for him that he was the only employee in the evening and had to do it all. The hotel was poorly prepared for such a large group trying to get breakfast and checkout early. They simply did not keep up and food was not available when needed.

Suggestion- Put heavier curtains on the windows or allow for the drapes to be pulled across the whole window instead of being stationary. Cleanliness with this hotel was an issue the whole 3 days we were there. Our carpet was wet in one area for some reason, and the carpet left black all over our feet and socks. GROSS! The bathroom floor was sticky. My husband and I noticed white stuff and hair floating in the hot tub, so decided not to get back in it. I can see how the staff would have trouble keeping the breakfast stocked. They have such small quantities available, it would be impossible-but they did try their best. I would say get rid of the hot food and just stick with rolls, cereals, etc. We didn't have any problems with the staff whatsoever during our stay. There was always someone at the desk- they were always helpful and polite. I would probably stay here again (if the cleanliness improves) but probably not for 3 days. Being on the first floor, we could hear everyone above us walking around.

Holiday Inn Express is usually at the top of the list of hotels where I like to stay. This one delivered everything I expected. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was typical of a HI Express, nothing fancy but adequate. The breakfast room was busy, but the staff made sure there was plenty to eat. The person working there also was quick to clean tables when someone left.

We arrived after dark and the hotel was a little difficult to find. It would be nice if there was better signage.

Motel 8 at best. Manager sat in office chatting on the phone instead of coming out to help me personally. The night guy made all these promises that the day people would not make good on. There were ants in the room. No no no!

We chose this HI Express, not realizing it was NOT the one we thought it was. Let's just say it was not what we expected for a HI Express property. The properties own web site had a notation about the pool being closed for repairs dated June 2011 and when we checked in the front desk informed us their pool was closed for repairs. So they never did fix the pool or their pool is just old and needs lots of repairs, not sure what the answer is? The hotel is not in what we consider a good location. Our idea of good location is near places to eat other than the run of the mill fast food/drive through. No shopping at all unless you are into low end goods and services. Keep in mind, our desires may be very different than what your, hotel/motel experience should be about, so you may be very content staying here. We requested to be changed from the our first room which was directly across the hall from the vending and ice machines to one away from it and any other notice inviting location, such as the elevator, stairways, service rooms; as in past stays we find those locations to be not conducive to rest and sleep. The room we were first assigned was on the second floor and the elevator was so small the two of us and the luggage cart were just about the maximum capacity it could hold. The breakfast room was smallish and very plain and selection was ok but it seemed more carb laden than other HI Express Inns/Suites we have stayed in. Cereal choices were sugar laden and that was a disappointment. The refrigerator in the breakfast room was not working. You could knock on the “employee only” door that was the kitchen and request a milk, yogurt, etc., which would normally be in the refrigerator, so that was a hassle. The very busy liquor store directly behind the hotel, and which our ground floor room over looked, was a bit unnerving, and so we left our drapes closed. There was no mini frig or microwave in the room. No “enclosed closet” just a “notched out area” next to the bathroom. Flat screen TV in the room was ok not the best picture quality. Room had a king size bed, love seat sofa (not a sleeper) desk with chair and dresser unit with ample drawers. Room was clean, bed and bath linens clean and soft, the bed was comfortable, HVAC was a nice quite unit which is a big plus for a good night sleep and there was not street noise that made its way into the room. The blackout curtains had no age or sun damage that caused light to get into the room, another plus for a good night sleep. Fitness room was extremely small and only three pieces of equipment and crammed together. The staff we encountered during our stay were very nice. As we were leaving our room to check out, we did see that the room across from ours appeared to be the early process of being what appeared to be gutted out for a renovation. Also, if you do stay for the first time at this property, its address is Belmont Ave, but there is no entrance to the hotel off Belmont. You will turn off Cornhusker Hwy onto 11th, directly behind the KFC fast food is the entrance to the gas station, turn in there and instead of pulling into the gas pump lanes continue forward into the hotel parking lot where the front entrance is.
