“Outstanding Service and Location: Dated Rooms”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Spent the weekend in Lincoln and received an excellent room rate that included breakfast daily; make sure you request the free breakfast. The hotel is less than a block from the Haymarket and excellent bars and restaurants.

The hotel is dated, the rooms show their age and furniture is not attractive although wide screen HDTV was in the room. Bathrooms are very small, 2 people can't occupy the area at the same time.

Staff does keep the rooms clean and all staff were very friendly and supportive.

The front desk did advise that a hotel rehab is in the planning stages and they will have to do this since one new hotel just opened and another is under construction.

Free parking is part of the room rate but the multi-level garage has very NARROW ingress and egress. I had to 'crawl" through the turns and you can see that others weren't careful as each turn had scrapes on the wall where other cars decided to rearrange their body parts.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We appreciate the kind words about the staff and I personally want to let you know we are planning an upgrade to the furniture and other soft goods starting this November. We are really excited and hope you come back and see us after it is complete.

The restaurant buffet breakfast was <$10 for all-you-can-eat bacon, sausage, eggs (cooked to order), fruit, etc. A real buffet bar, not a "continental". The staff was extremely friendly, and went out of their way to ask my name and refer to me by name. My waiter was Danny, but Andrew was also attentive, as well as others who I didn't catch their name.

Room was clean and comfortable, air conditioner was good (and I like it cold)!

Complimentary USA Today in the morning, and I sat in the restaurant after breakfast and read it end-to-end. Felt very comfortable and welcome, not like I was taking up their space or time.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a great view of city and surrounding area.

The greatest bartender in the Haymarket! This is the best hotel and the managers priority club happy hour is really nice. The staff is very friendly and make sure you are well taken care of. They want 200 words so I will tell you that Barb is the bartender and she makes sure all the customers are happy. She is the best

This is by far the friendliest and most welcoming staff I have ever encountered in any hotel. From the first day I got here they have been nothing but friendly and courteous. That plus the location makes it by far the best value in Lincoln.

We come to Lincoln often - generally once a month - so stay here often. Barbara at the bar remembers us and our preferences. Consistently clean and friendly. Have brought friends here to stay as well. The Hay Market area is great for finding places to eat and walking around. The parking garage is tight - but, realistically, it is downtown in the city - parking in any city will be tight. If you want sprawled out parking which is not close to the downtown activity, stay at the Holiday Inn on the edge of town.

This is a very large hotel downtown in the Haymarket district. The service was very good and they were very willing to please. We stayed with my son's basketball team. There were 2 weddings being held there plus numerous baseball teams. Parking is VERY tight IF you can get in the parking garage. It also costs $7 to park in the garage. The hotel was very busy and the elevators could not keep up and it was very time consuming to wait for elevators. Also, four of our boys got stuck in the elevator for some time. The breakfast buffet was awesome -- be sure to try it! The only problem was laundry facilities. There is only one washer ans one dryer and with all the sports teams there, the line was HOURS long. They need at least an additional machine of each as I was doing laundry at midnight and there were still 2 groups behind me, but we had an 8:00 am game the next morning as did the girls baseball team that was in front of me. This was in a great neighborhood and within walking distance of several restaurants and a big movie theater. There is also a hotel shuttle that will take you within 2 miles of the hotel. Also, since we were with a group I would think they would want to keep us somewhat together which was not our case. About one room per floor on first six floors which made it difficult to keep track of the boys in our group.

Room Tip: Rooms were equal on at least the first six floors as our group was split up with approximately one r...

I and my fellow chaperones looked after 14 teenagers in this hotel while we were in town for the Thespian Festival. They gave us a great government rate and even offered the buffet breakfast every morning. The breakfast was nothing to write home about, but the sweetest lady named Patty served us wonderful "mini-omellettes", which are really regular sized omelletes and not the ridiculously-sized six-egg variety you get in some of the chain restaurants. The hotel is very clean, relatively new, and right in the heart of the beautiful downtown Haymarket neighborhood. I have also stayed at the Embassy Suites up the road, and while it is roomier and the breakfast is more made-to-order, it would have cost twice what we paid at the Holiday Inn. The desk staff is friendly and responsive, and housekeeping is conscientious. Most important to me, the hotel is very quiet, and well soundproofed. For the money, it's a great value. Special kudos to the staff of the Red Onion, the attached restaurant that served our students and me breakfast every morning. They were kind, remembered the kids' names, and made a special effort to help us feel welcome.
