“A Lincoln Favorite”

Good food, good prices, good margaritas. This is a fun place to go with friends for drinks and dinner, or to take your family for an affordable dining experience.

“Best Mexican food in town!”
Reviewed January 27, 2012

This restaurant is behind a little bodega. Don't let that scare you away. The service is good, waiters are friendly. The food is terrific and there are many items to choose from . Margaritas are great.

“Good Casual Dining, But a Bit Pricey”
Reviewed September 14, 2011

it's a charming find, tucked away as it is, at the back of a grocery store... and the restaurant itself is a cute little casual dining place. the portions are huge, but then again, so are the prices (for lincoln). frankly, they'd be better off with smaller portions and cheaper prices.

the food, sadly, is only slightly above average and is prepared somewhat carelessly. my chicken fajita burrito had a nice garnish of diced tomatoes, but several pieces still had the stem end on it... that's kind of off-putting. isn't that generally removed at most restaurants and indeed in most home kitchens?

a complimentary basket of chips (rather ordinary and apparently not home made) was brought to our table almost immediately after being seated, along with salsa (two varieties, once much spicier than the other and both very good.) a side order of guacamole was large and tasty, and an exceptionally good deal at $3.

service was friendly and accommodating and the place is clearly popular, particularly with college students... it was nearly packed on a tuesday night! the restaurant - and the store - seems to have an unfortunate fly problem, however... we had several buzzing about our table during our meal, which is never a pleasant experience at any eating establishment.

overall, i'd say the food was pretty good, but not significantly better than any other mexican meal you could have around town, usually at half or a third the price. if you must try la mexicana, i'd recommend you go for lunch, when they have some good specials.
