“Good part of an overall tour if you like architecture and history.”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

The mosaic mural, stone banister, domed ceilings, masonic symbols, and other architectural details are beautiful. Interestingly, when I visited the Empire State Building in New York many years ago I was handed a brochure with the Nebraska State Capital on the front, another one of structural engineer, Homer Gage "H.G." Balcom's great works. No one mentions the connections between these two buildings much anymore, but the evidence is clear, like seeing similarities in siblings.

The guided tour is great, but maybe follow it with random wandering through the capital. Unlike any other U.S. State, Nebraksa has a unique unicameral nonpartisan legislature.

“What a unique building”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

To think that this building was built debt-free at the height of the Great Depression is pretty amazing. The mosaics are beautiful and symbolic.

“An interesting site to see”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

It was very nice for a art-deco style capitol building built in the 1930's, but, I prefer the neo-classical styles based on the US Capitol. I was suprised not to find a single statue to William Jennings Bryan! (A famous Nebraskan), Also bring a fan in the summer, they don't leave the air conditioning on!
