Since there isn't a lot to do in Lincoln, this is a old place with beautiful paintings, floors, ceilings. Certainly worth checking out if you have some time to spare. Great view of the city from the 14th floor overlook.

We visited on a 100 degree humid July Sunday afternoon. The only negative was the fact that there was no air conditioning on weekends. The charming male tour guide had the attention of our group, which included 3 children, ages 6-9. After the interesting and polished 1hour tour of the 1st floor hallways, the Unicameral chambers and the NE Supreme Court chambers, we were encouraged to wander the hallways on that floor, and take the elevator the the 3rd floor to view the beautiful floor mosaic murals from the view of the walkways. One could then hop back on the elevator to the highest accessible floor, to take advantage of the spectacular city view. Definitely worth the trip for us.

The Nebraska capitol building is worth a visit. Take time to tour inside the capitol. If you go up one floor from the entrance they have very beautiful art on the walls. Also, the ceilings and domes are very pretty.

You can take a tiny, scary, old elevator up to the top of the tower. They have an observation deck up there with good views; however, when I went the doors were locked so we couldn't actually get out onto the deck. Also, you can see into the top of the dome from up there.

If you are interested in photos bring a tripod or a really good flash because the lighting situation is low and can make it hard to get good pics.

Also, they do have a gift shop, but it didn't open until 10am and I was there around 8am, so I didn't get to check it out.

If you walk around the neighborhood near the capitol building there are some historic homes with markers telling about their history that are also worth seeing.

The artwork is fascinating--a combination of Native American and European influence. Really beautiful
