We visit the Sunken Gardens whenever we're in or passing through Lincoln, NE. The garden is different every year. The waterfall and pools filled with koi and lily pads are gorgeous. This year in mid June, the lily pads were in bloom with brilliant pink, yellow, and white flowers. It's also small in size, so one doesn't need much time to experience all of it. My husband, daughter, and grandson spent about a half hour there this year. When a 14 year old is impressed, you know it's worth it. I also liked reading some of the donated bricks, which make up the paths. There are also places to sit and just absorb the beauty and peacefulness of the gardens.. Across the street is a rose garden and a waterfall sculpture dedicated to teachers.
