“Beautiful~must see!”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

The Holy Family Shrine sits above the Platte River and the views are wonderful. There is a visitor center, small gift shop, a walking path and the Shrine itself. A great place to reflect and enjoy nature in a peaceful setting. A one of a kind place to visit that you won't forget.

“Neat spot”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

This church is on a hilly gravel road overlooking the interstate, which gives you some pretty views. We stopped at a time when it was closed, but it is still a pretty site to see.

“Interesting sanctuary”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

I've been to the Holy Family Shrine a couple of times. Of course, it is best to visit during the spring, summer or fall so that the scenery is at its best. The best part of the entire place is the small stream running through everything including the church. The sound is relaxing, especially while sitting in a pew in the church - it certainly helps one to reflect and contemplate.

This is a Catholic Shrine - not a Catholic Church. Therefore, they do not allow Catholic sacraments to be performed in the Shrine - such as baptisms, weddings, Sunday mass, etc. It is not a church of the Archdiocese (and, therefore, does not pay Archdiocesan taxes either). It is a 501c3 organization hoping just to bring people back to the true Catholic faith.

It is a beautiful setting and a beautiful structure. Peaceful, serene. What a nice respite for travelers to just stop and regroup during a journey.

“Awe inspiring...”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

A must see, even if you are just passing through. You can see it on a hilltop just south of I-80, it is a marvel of architecture and a unique design. It is a Church, but not overtly so.
Mostly glass and flying buttresses of finished wood-It was designed to make you feel a part of the nature and the lovely gardens surrounding the shrine chapel itself. There is a fountain in the visitor's center that provides water for a tiny stream. This stream meanders out the doors, through the connecting mediation garden and leads you directly into the chapel. It continues up the main aisle and disappears in front of the altar.
As with any Catholic church-It is always open for prayer and meditation. Not available for weddings or funerals; the literature states they will allow memorial services (where there is no body or ashes present).

This is a great church to visit- architecture, unusual, quiet, and it's in the middle of a highway! Just beautiful!
