step back in time. Saw hatmaker, tin shop, and lumber mill. saw by peddling a bike. Love all the old antiques. People are knowledgeable. Expanding all the time and teaching the kids about what their grandparents lived.

“Worthwhile experience, good artifacts from the plains years.”
Reviewed December 24, 2011

The railroad town is worth the price of admission. If you have any interest in history, this will be a good experience. Not as high tech as some museums.

Go on a nice day as there will be a lot of outside walking if you want to experience the entire facility. If you go when there is inclement weather you can still enjoy the main building but you will miss a lot of the charm of the place. They also have a lot of educational and fun classes/activities.

Check out their website or twitter @stuhrmuseum before you go to get current information on events and exhibitions.

“Worthwhile visit”
Reviewed September 6, 2011

Great museum of pioneer culture. The main building has lots of interesting exhibits. The Fonner Rotunda has an excellent collection of cowboy and indian collectables and is worth visiting. Railroad town was excellent! Most of the buildings are open and most have people dressed in period costume doing period work (making a pie in a home, making a ladle in the blacksmith's shop, etc.). These people were very pleasant and great at answering questions! There is also a great collection of old farm machinery (and some vintage cars too). Finally, their Pawnee earth lodge is very well done too.
It's a "living history" type of museum. If you're not interested in this type of thing, then it's probably not for you. But if you have any interest in life on the prarie, it's awesome!!

“Awesome! One day not enough time to see it all! Staff are EXCELLENT!”
Reviewed August 12, 2011

Visited with kids aged 11, 9, 8 and 2. Spent all day from opening until closing and not a minute of boredom for any age.

Railroad Town is incredible. Spent most of the day there. Staff was EXTREMELY COURTEOUS and HELPFUL! The tinsmith made us a custom order of tin whistles and shipped them to Japan for us!

Little cafe in Railroad Town is just a little piece of down home HEAVEN.

Loved the farm machinery/old car museum!

I can't say enough about this place! They even let active duty military in for free!
