“Worth the stop for those interested Pony Express history.”

I am fascinated by the Pony Express and it was a real treat to see an actual Express Station. The park is nice and well maintained. The building is as well. It was open when we stopped by, there is a visitors center/gift shop inside. You can even purchase post cards to be mailed from the station. Worth the stop for those interested in Pony Express or Old West history.

“A great break.”

A small but informative destination. While small, it is full of era items and a great idea of the life of the Pony Express system. The staff is very helpful and informative.

“Nice little place”
Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

An old Pony Express station was moved to the park where it is now a museum. The lady who worked there was very nice and know her local history. It was a nice rest stop break from driving. Go there!

“Great stop along I-80. Piece of history.”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Located a short distance off the interstate in a nice park. Exit 211, there are several signs to point you in the right direction once you exit.

The station was once located on a nearby ranch and was moved to the city park in order to save it from the damage of time. The lady working on the day we visited was very informative, teaching us the requirements for a Pony Express rider, the dangers associated with rides, as well as showing us a mochila used to carry the mail on the saddles. Each Pony Express station was located along the Oregon Trail (as it was a well established route by that time), and each rider rode 100 miles at a time as fast as possible, changing horses every 10-15 miles at a station. The station has several historical artifacts to view and a small gift shop. After visiting the Pony Express station you can relax in the park before hitting the open road again.

A great way to experience hands-on a piece of history and learn even more about the Pony Express.

“For the old west geeks”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

If you like Pony Express/Old West stuff, you'll enjoy this. If you don't, you won't.

It's a very small building in a nice park area. The best part was the man working inside, he told me the highlights and had an answer for every question I had - he knows his stuff. I probably could have stayed for a long time just picking his brain. I actually learned a lot and it gave me a nice mental break from the interstate.

There's a few souvenirs - post cards, books, a very limited selection of t-shirts, maps.
