“Not the best not the worst”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

We only stayed for one nightin an Ultra cabin, and it had its good and bad points. It's winter and its raining the puny heater took 3 hours to heat one room. The bathroom is like a tiny freezer. As previously mentioned, nowhere to put any luggage. The tv is that high and being a LCD you have to look straight and level at it or it gets that black screen effect, so to watch it you have to stand up. The stove only had one element that worked and the grill took 10 minutes to heat up. Rooms were clean, bed very comfortable and altogether I might stay again. The staff were as uninterested on check in and out as any I've ever met, usually you get some questions about where you're from and what you are doing in town for business, but nope nothing here, not a thing. Even asking about food available after 7pm got nothing but a dazed look.

Room Tip: Get the ultra, the standard cabins looked ancient and terrible

As a Park Resident for over 15 year's some of the Negative comment's are sad..

We are mostly very Pleasant residence, Who are only more welcome to allow you to join in our fun. Yes we are a very loud bunch.

To the Person that is complain about the Noise at 10 pm we the Residence are all VERY WELL aware of our Curfew as it is DRUMMED into our head's every time we party Hard, CURFEW at our PARK is 12 MIDNIGHT.

The Toilet area is a little Shabbie but you are only using for a short time and most of the time it is clean.

But i will say that yes 2 toilet's is not enough for a long weekend That we all agree on...

None of you payed a million Dollars to stay here and if you want HIGH CLASS then i suggest you go to a MOTEL/RESORT and Pay 3-4 times as much as you did in our Park... But i bet you don't get the Enjoyment out of it that we do.

I was worried after I read the reviews of this place. I booked an Ultra Cabin for 2 nights. The cabin was simple but had everything you need. We had a queen bed which was comfortable, enough drawers and space to hang clothing. No where to put suitcases etc. It rained the whole weekend we were there, so appreciated the verandah even though it was too wet to sit.The location was an easy walk to the beach.
I can appreciate that others could find the Manager to be rude, he does come across as abrupt but I had no problem. His wife is lovely, maybe she should handle the public. I can't make comment about the state of the park or the lack of toilets but honestly the cabins are well maintained.
It's a lovely area and there are many places to stay but for the price I wouldn't hesitate in coming back here.

This would have to be the worst Caravan Park in Australia..As mentioned by other travellers dirty toilets grout needs to be a good clean or maybe replacing..Only 2 toilets for caravaners and campers..You have to walk through the path in the park over a rickerty wooden bridge over the road up a parking area over the sand Then"BINGO" your on the beach. The staff are not friendly or helpful. This is a very run down Park and needs lots of TLC..To top it off when they empty the gabbages they dont replace the liners and we had MAGGOTS in ours..Keep driving and go to one of Forsters or Tuncurry Parks.

Granted our kids (2 & 4) woke a number of times through the night so our sleep was disturbed, however we were looking forward to checking out the place for a potential longer stay later in the year and were extremely disappointed. To quote my Husband "There were no redeeming features".
We stayed in an on-site van which is owned by friends who offered us the van FOC for the night. There are only 4 powered sites and their aspect was not desirable.
There was only a slippery dip and two swings, so not much for kids our age.
I second an earlier review titled 'Sad & Tired'. Although amenities were a long way from our van they were clean. I couldn't imagine there would be enough facilities when the park is full.
We have stayed at much nicer locations, with friendlier Managers who welcomed you at the gate/reception, rather than quizzed you about how you were 'connected' to the van owners and charging $23 for the night for it's 'Use'???
Needless to say enquiries have begun with other locations for our next trip away. Wont miss driving on The Lakes Way either.
The nearby Recreation club had nice food, but was also tired looking & the 20 x 12 Cafe at Boomerang had great coffee, but food was a disappointment.

Room Tip: Sorry but I don't have any tips other than BYO!

How do you rate a caravan park and its cabins? We rented an ultra cabin for two (one bedroom) for the week ending on Boxing Day. This was part of an extended family holiday, with most time spent at the 'big house' with other family members. So, we mainly slept and breakfasted here. The cabin was clean and the bedroom particularly well appointed (for a caravan park cabin). Although located near the entrance to the park we did not particularly notice vehicle noise. The ultra cabins are set so that each one's covered veranda faces in a different direction. Ours (P) faced the tropical bush between the park and the main road, a very pleasant outlook and one that diminished the feeling of being in, well, a caravan park. Elizabeth Beach is about a 5 minute walk away (nice beach, good for families). Most breakfasts a bush turkey came around to see if we would give it anything. I agree with other reviewers about the surprise absence of a shop in the park. It is necessary to drive (or bicycle if you are so equipped) to get to any shops.

Room Tip: As noted, P has the veranda facing the bush,

Very disappointing. Only stayed one night. It appears clean on arrival. Cabin was dirty, cobwebs - porch area not brushed etc. With a bit more effort and care this could be a good location. Seems like people book for proximity to beach. Reception staff made no effort either - we won't be back.
