This place is quite new and seems reasonable enough for a one-night lay-over (at $39/$49 s/d with en suite) -- until you realize such places are much cheaper, both in Quito and in Ecuador in general. Still, it saves you the $60-90 r/t taxi and the 2- to 4-hour round-trip travel time into Quito proper, if you only need to stay the one night. And though their advertised 5-minute travel time from the airport is rather optimistic, it certainly takes no more than 10 minutes, and the travel time is quite reliable -- unlike the uncertainty of travel times from Quito proper.
The airport pick-up arranged by the hotel goes very well (I heard similar comments from other guests) and the breakfast is simple but good enough.
Warnings: Some rooms (like Room 2) have no windows, and are dark, wet and stuffy even in the current dry season. They must be awful on a hot, wet day (no a/c and no fridge). The noise from the dog kennels behind the property may make you wish you had a windowless room, as will the expressway traffic noise from the same direction. An English speaker is not always available, so check-in may be quite difficult for those with no Spanish at all. The windows are so poorly fitted, where they do exist, that a 1/2 inch or more gap allows the mosquitos ease of access -- and the existing windows have no screens. There are very, very few eateries in this village. The one I was sent to 3 1/2 long blocks away was closed. I did find a new, simple place, just 1 1/2 blocks away, next to the school. Only one choice for dinner (Seco de pollo, a personal favorite) was $2.50.
Right now the airport area has no hotels at all and only a few hostals/guest houses like El Viajero. They will continue to be fully booked and able to continue to overcharge for a while, but will become a very low preference for travelers once other properties are built. For the moment, you'll have to stay here or in similar lodgings and tolerate the noise or other shortcomings.
