“Really Nice but Spoiled by Crowd”

Travelled a long way to get here, it is really nice and special. Problem is that a lot of others were there too. There are only 3 pools: 1 Baking Hot, 1 Warm and 1 Cold from the river. There are little small pools you could perch on a rock and dip your feet in, that is all. With all the people it was difficult to fit a spot nor enjoy one once you found one, with all the kids splashing about.

I imagine that really early morning or late night... or off season... this would be a spectacularly special spot to relax. I reckon a winter's day, assuming you could get there in the snow, would be awesome in the heat of the pools.

Not a waste of a journey though as only a few km down the road is Moose Lake with is stunning.

Summary: Too busy but would be lush out of peak time... I don't recommend it unless you can get there super early.

First time at a natural hot spring! I loved it! The hot pool was hot and the kids liked the warm pool! My hubby even braved the cold river water pool! The ambience is indescribable. The river runs beside the pools, the trees and mountains surround you....I just can't put into words how beautiful it was......much different than the other "hot springs"...aka "swimming pools". It wasn't busy when we went (on a Thurs after 6pm). There isn't much space if you DID go while it was busy. The road is scary! Go slow! Stick to the center or closer to the side of the mountain! But it's worth it once you get to the springs! There are two change room/bathrooms at the top of the parking lt. Bring water and a towel! There is nowhere to get a drink and you WILL be thirsty! Steep walk from parking lot to springs, so elderly and injured beware! The springs are sulphur so there is a bit of a yucky smell to them, but easy enough to overlook when you hear the river rushing by and catch a whiff of the pine trees! I urge you to check it out!

This was my first time at a "natural" hot spring. Although it is slightly commercialized with the outhouses, garbage cans, walkways, etc. It is quite easy to find and is shown on maps and GPS. Just keep following the gravel road up. Easily accessible by any type of vehicle just drive with caution! There are some steep banks in the area.
There are not too many pools to sit in. I think only three decent-sized ones. The day we went it was hot and quite busy. One of the pools was too hot to enjoy, one was cool, and one was just right.

This gem is about 1.25 hr from Radium. Pass canal flats and follow the sign to the ACTIVE LOGGING ROAD that takes you into the park.
Respect the road, as it has elements and areas which have very steep drops which are unforgiving.
The hot spring is about 18km up the road. Bathrooms at the top, a short walk down a sloped path to the hot pools.
1 pool is very hot, 1 pool kind of warm, the rest are river water!
It was 30 degrees when we went and it was totally worth it to us, some people complained about the drive though!
Enjoy!!! Bring some water, getting down is easy but walking up is a good 5 minutes of steep walking!
