“great hosts beautiful and comfortable stay”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

we found this beautiful B&B over the internet during our roadtrip through Nebraska. Unfortunately we arrived quite late, but our hosts still gave us a very warm welcome. The house, atmosphere and rooms were beautiful, with very cosy decorations, absolutely great beds (slept really wonderfully), bathrobes and all conveniences you need.
The small common room is also super cute to relax, read and plan your activities and trips for the next days. Do not skp breakfst here - you would miss a very delicious, homecooked warm breakfast, where you also get to know your hosts. Travellers themselves they have a lot of interesting stories to tell, also about the house and history and Linda & Gordon are really one of the nicest hosts we ever had, and we travel a lot all over the world. Linda also prepared us delicious cookies to take with us! Thanks for the great and unforgetting stay, and we hope to make it back there some day!

Room Tip: double with bathroom

We were on a 10 day Mid-West Tour, and stayed at Oft's the last two days before flying home. The home is located in a small town on a fairly busy road, though this does not detract from the stay. We stayed in the larger room with its own bathroom and a balcony. The room is actually quite large for an older home, and the King sized bed very comfortable. The Mueller's were very accomodating, setting up an air mattress for our daughter. Yummy cookies were provided on our arrival. The home has been lovingly restored, and modernized. It is very clean and there is an obvious Pride of Ownership. Breakfast was well prepared and balanced--not too many sweets. They ate breakfast with us, which isn't typical at other Bed and Breakfasts, and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. The following morning Gordon was insistent he wanted to prepare breakfast when we left at 4:45 am. It was too early to eat for our California stomachs, so he packed us a breakfast for the airport. It was fantastic not having to buy airport food! Linda and Gordon go out of their way to make sure every need is met.

My wife and I stayed here while meeting with a couple in nearby Elkhorn. Our purpose was to consult with them on a barrel of Civil War letters. Our stay at Oft's was an added history bonus and we were immediately welcomed as family. It added very much to our brief stay and we will be returning again.

Gordon and Linda, our hosts, joined us for breakfast (excellent by the way) where we listened to their stories of local and family history. In turn we shared our and the purpose of our trip.

We rate this B&B as one that should be in the Select Registry for overall excellence.

First, I would like to say that I traveled to Omaha, to prove everyone wrong about NE....and I am pretty sure that I did, with the help of an amazing Bed and Breakfast.

Oft's bed and breakfast is a hidden surprise in the the town of Bennington, NE. The owners are welcoming and friendly and have lots of historical information on their family owned home.

What you get for $89 a night.
1. A tour of the house, which is on the National Historical Registry.
2. A clean, beautifully decorated room. The furnishings are original and in great condition.
3. Access to your own private bathroom
4. A quiet and safe place to sleep
5. The best breakfast and coffee on that side of the Mississippi that would put any hotel or motel to shame.
6. Quick access to the best sights in Omaha and surrounding areas, (including the amazing bronze statues).
7. Suggestions to the best places to visit and eat while in the Omaha area.

Staying at Oft's B&B is a win win situation, and it will not leave you disappointed. As I suspected, traveling to NE and back, (WI), was far more exciting than one could expect it to be. So if you're going to the Omaha area for business or pleasure, be sure to consider Oft's B&B.

We really enjoyed our stay at Oft's. The hosts made us feel really welcome and the home has been lovingly and carefully restored to it's original splendor (except for the modern bathrooms!). What a beautiful room! Luxurious linens, balcony, yummy treats, tasty breakfasts and stimulating conversation. There is so much history in this house you can spend an hour just reading and looking at all their wonderful things from the family's past. You will not be disappointed. We had such a lovely visit that we will make this our regular stop when we are in Omaha.

We met friends at this lovely bed & breakfast for a relaxed weekend of visiting. The home is lovingly restored to beauty and grandeur and is filled with marvelous antiques. If offered the perfect setting for our gathering. The owners are friendly and accommodating, providing extra touches like warm rhubarb cobbler for an afternoon picnic on one of the porches. Comfortable and inviting, this is an ideal B & B, and we will definitely return!

The rooms were of the highest quality. The furnishings were exquisit. The environment was quite and the bed very comfortable. I actually slept 10 hours the first night there. Each breakfast was different and urique. It goes without saying very delicious. Gordon and Linda were excelent hosts and made us feel right at home. I can even overlook the fact that the rooms were on the second floor and no elevator because we had such a great time. We plan to stay there whenever we go to visit our son and his family in Omaha.

Room Tip: If you like a big bed get 1, big tub get the othr
