This was our first time to a guest ranch and it was great! Can't wait to try it again. We had such an awesome time and the experience was beyond our expectations. The entire staff was so nice & friendly & VERY accomodating. It was a vacation that I will always remember. We had great trail rides each day and got to try team pinning! We did an all day ride in Eureka, MT/Canadian border that was beautiful and so fun - thanks to our wrangler Griff (who will crack you up!). Last day was the rodeo followed by our last trail ride of the week which was by far the best one - thanks to Lindsay & Katie! It was more challenging but a blast!!
Thanks to everyone at Bar W for an awesome vacation!

We spent 8 weeks in America and the best week we had was at the Bar W ranch! It was even better than our Carribean cruise and time at Disey World. It was definitely the staff who made the week as fantastic as it was, though the fact that it is a beautiful part of the world certainly added to the experience. We loved the fact that we were matched up with horses that were perfect for us. The Bar W ranch will forever have our gratitude for giving our 7 year old her confidence to ride back. We would do the long trip over from Australia just to specifically go to the Bar W ranch again. We loved our time there. We were the first guest for summer and got to ride in the rain, snow and sun in spetacular scenary. The staff went out there way to cater for our 7 year old to make sure that she had a great time even though she was the youngest guest.

Room Tip: The aspen room is worth every cent for the spa bath, especially after being in the saddle all day.

To celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday, we took a trip to the Bar W Ranch in hopes of having the time of our lives~ and boy ~ we sure did!! The staff treated us like family, catering to our every wish (both spoken and unspoken request). We were exhausted (in a good way) at the end of every day due to the awesome activities: Square dancing, horseback riding, achery and skeet shooting just to name a few. And man, the food was AWESOME ! We met folks from all over the world and created friendships that we hope will last a lifetime. Our hearts hurt when we left and we even shed a tear or two. This is something that we will look forward to do again and again. Many thanks to the Bar W for a well organized, friendly, smooth running operation which allowed us to have wonderful memories that will last a lifetime!

Fabulous first experience at a due ranch and in Montana. Absolutely loved the ranch and all the staff. Beautiful scenery, beautiful room, great food...thank you Terry! Great wranglers... Thank you Scott, Griff,Craig,Lyndsey and Katie! So much fun and so many laughs.... Some of the horses like TJ are smarter then the wrangler, and can untie themselves leaving the wrangler to walk through the mountains... Truly an awesome experience! thank you to the rest of the crew that really made our stay enjoyable... Abby, Andrew, Ann, Jenifer, Mike, Jason and of course Olly.

My only recommendation was and is ... the horses coats look a little shabby and i think they should have a part time groomer to keep them looking nicer and get rid of rain rot and other little grooming issues...

thanks

Andrea from Maryland

Room Tip: The rooms are all very nice ... the pictures on the web-site don't really do them justice... we...

I had my first ever dude ranch experience (and first ever trip to Montana) in October 2011 for the Cowgirl Up week at the Bar W. I traveled alone since this was something I had always wanted to do but was no longer willing to wait for someone to come with me. Let me say it was the most memorable vacation I have ever had. The staff, the accommodation, the scenery, the food were all wonderful. The weather was very mixed while I was there but the scenery was so spectacular on the daily rides it just added to the experience. I met a really great group of women and each day we came back off the rides saying "that was the best day yet!" I consider myself a novice rider but there were all levels of riding ability within the group. We were given a little instruction before starting off and then the larger group was divided into two smaller groups. So much fun every day, such great people, such a beautiful setting - just fabulous. Treat yourself - you won't regret it!

We visited Bar W Guest Ranch in December and loved every minute of our stay there. The guest house is so comfortable and we really enjoyed the communal breakfast every morning prepared by Katie and shared with other guests and Andrew the ranch hand. The town of Whitefish is really close and so charming! Skiing was fabulous! Lots of fun things to do. Our kids are already asking us to go back in the summer when we can enjoy all of the outdoor activities Bar W has to offer.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sun Room, which is actually two rooms and sleeps 6. Perfect for families!

We visited the Bar W Guest Ranch for a week in late August and still can't stop talking about what an amazing experience this was. We rented the Eagle's Nest which had a bedroom, living area with small frig, and loft area. This was a good arrangement for two couples or a couple with children. The deck looked out over the field in which several horses were grazing throughout the day. Decorations were of a fashionable Western motif. We enjoyed being away from the main building (where most guests stayed), but did have to walk there for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We weren't sure how we would respond to structured activities and three meals a day of family style dining, but the staff are experts at connecting guests so that by the end of the stay we were all friends and cheering each other on at the ranch rodeo. Bar W does a great job of providing options for all levels of riders from beginners to experts. Our group had a variety of riding abilities and none of us ever felt pushed or held back -- a major compliment for the staff. We also enjoyed the variety of other options such as skeet shooting, archery and steer roping.

The Bar W is about two hours from Glacier National Park and one could drive the Going to the Sun road in one day without too many stops. However, there is so much to do at the ranch and at Glacier I wouldn't recommend trying to combine them.

Room Tip: For larger groups, stay in the separate cabin.
