A large group of friends and I recently dined at Cafe Kandahar for a Bachelor Party weekend and I am happy to report that it exceeded our expectations and absolutely everyone (out of 14 people) left satisfied with a great meal to talk about. We found out during our meal that they basically opened up the restaurant a week early just to host our group and as a result we had the entire restaurant to ourselves and Chef Andy came out to introduce and describe every course of our seven-course tasting menu. We had a fantastic menu consisting of Sturgeon, Potato-Leek Soup, Lamb Pancetta, Pork Belly, Elk, Bison, and a sampling of desserts. Every dish was prepared with care and presented beautifully. The dishes are rustic and hearty and everyone was full and satisfied. The wine pairings were outstanding and our group ate and laughed for 3 straight hours. Special thanks to Dalise for organizing our group dinner and Andy and the rest of the kitchen and staff for creating such a memorable dining experience for our group.

This is the second time I've been to Cafe Kandahar over the years and I won't hesitate to return.

The meal was overpriced and all main dishes were a slab of meat or fish with sauce. 6 people had dinner and not one person was satisfied with their meal. I sent my beef dish back as it tasted spoiled. The huckleberry Martina's were delicious.

Not much to gather from this review, other than a disgruntled guest who attempted to speak for the rest of their party. Based on our observation, and feedback from the table, the other guests were satisfied with their meals.

A slab of meat or fish with sauce is general enough to encompass just about anything, from top to bottom, perhaps a few more details would reveal where the dissatisfaction took place. The guest is correct that their beef dish was sent back. Myself and my staff tasted the dish, found nothing wrong with it, and could only guess this particular guest was unhappy for their own reasons. We removed it from the bill, offered this guest another entree, they refused.

There was little we could do to "fix" the situation, even though we made multiple attempts to do so.

The Snug Bar is a great place for a beverage and to order from a scaled down menu from Cafe Kandahar. The warm spinach salad and Elk burger are excellent. There is always some interesting to talk to in the very small but comfortable confines of the Snug Bar.

My husband and I ate there twice on our trip and loved it both times. We had elk, bison, and several other dishes. They used combinations of ingredients we had never seen before (and we eat out a lot), and every bite was just delicious. Just be aware that it is pricey; the two of us spent $150 on one visit and $200 on the second visit and that is without any alcoholic beverages but including all courses and tip. Still, it was worth it to us for a very special experience that you can't find just anywhere.

Amazing food and amazing service! My husband and I just enjoyed the Kandahar special/tasting with the wine pairing and it was phenomenal. The service was wonderful and we knew what we were having with each course as well as what and where out wine was from. The buffalo tenderloin and the cream brûlée were out of this world! We are certainly looking forward to going back again!
