“Fabulous resort!”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We spent six nights here in a suite at the far end of the hotel. It had recently been remodeled and is inviting and comfortable. Our suite had two large club chairs with an ottoman - very functional. We also had two flat screens so that we could each watch what we wanted. :) The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with a hand-held shower head. Several days we had brand new towels; I removed the cardboard tag in the seam. :) There is a microwave and small refrigerator. The frig does not have a freezer which I didn't like because my icepack had to go in the freezer in the bar/kitchen. I always worry that I'll get it back unfrozen. Although this has happened, it didn't here.

The fitness center has improved as well. It is now off the main lobby instead of the out building at the end of the property.

I had a massage at Remedies Day Spa which is currently located on the third floor of the front wing of the resort. (It was wonderful!) That end was very dated but I'm sure that that end of the property will also be updated. I think the spa will also have a new location on the first floor of the already remodeled wing of the hotel.

We enjoyed breakfast or lunch in the restaurant each day. Delicious!! There is also space for dining outside but we ate inside each time. My only request is more chocolate desserts. I don't remember if they had any because I ended up with vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. This choice had the most chocolate - which isn't saying a lot.

The resort has a shuttle that picked us up in Kalispell which is only about 20 minutes away. We rented a car at Grouse Mountain so we could tour the area. Very convenient!

This was our third stay at this resort and it gets better each time. We will be back!

Room Tip: The corner suites are bright and spacious.

Very detailed review. Thank you! We appreciate that you took your time to leave us this wonderful review. Yes, the fitness center is now open on the first floor, as well as Remedies Day Spa. We will look into more chocolate for your next visit to the area.

We booked a 3 night stay a couple weeks ago. As a travel agent I booked in my reservation system and paid for the 1st night with a gift card....no problem. I called before to make sure we could use the card for check in, and were assured we could, but there might be a hold on the card up to $100, but would be released within 5-7 business days upon checking out. When we checked in there was mass confusion with the gal checking us in. Come to find out she had swiped the card twice, froze almost $250.00 on the card. We had counted on that money to go forward on our trip, as we still had 7 days left to vacation. After a few days we kept checking the card hoping the amount would be back on there. We got back home, called the hotel, they denied the amount of close to $250 ever being charged-that was per an asst manager.....after getting home, called the Visa customer service and our bank where we got the card and, they did their research and found that the Grouse Mountain Lodge won't release our funds until July 17th-our stay was the 1st week of June-basically nothing we can do . I would never recommend this hotel to my clients and for sure will NEVER stay there again.......laundry room was the pits too.

That we double swiped your card is very unfortunate, and we are currently working on methods to assure that this doesn’t happen, especially when is applies to debit and gift cards. If you would like to call us, our general manager will be more than happy to assist you. We take our TripAdvisor reviews very seriously and thank you for taking your time to leave us your thoughts. Please know that your review will be passed on to our company president in an effort to further improve our quality of service.

We stayed at the lodge over Memorial Day weekend. The greatest asset this property has is its staff, they bend over backwards to make the stay very enjoyable. The lobby and main common area is amazing, very clean and up to date. The rooms and remainder of the hotel are very dated, at least the wing of the hotel we were on. The rooms are clean but generally speaking, are in need of a major remodel. I

You are so right! You probably noticed the construction company's vehicles and equipment in the South parking lot, and that is because we are almost completed with the South Wing's renovations. As of next year, we will have renovated the entire facility. What will stay the same, is the great staff! On your next visit to the area, look us up and we would love to have the opportunity to show off what we have done. Thank you for taking your time to interact with us, here on TripAdvisor. Your comment has not gone unnoticed.

Bathroom & lobby were good, although lobby smelled of cigarettes. The bar & bartender were great. Dining area was great. Hallways smelled like cigarettes too. Rooms were interestingly layed out. The hotel looks to be under remodeling which is good for them. Overall we werent impressed or dissatisfied except for the awesome massive rain shower bathroom. It's got 10 shower heads which made for an awesome shower! It's a decent place if you can get it at a good price.

Thank you for taking your time to interact with us, here on TripAdvisor. First of all, let me apologize for the cigarette smoke smell. I visited with the lodge's general manager, and although the room you stayed in is a non-smoking room, the previous guest was fined $150 for smoking in it. We did use several methods to remove the smoke smell, but apparently there was still some residual smell? We are going to revisit this situation to make sure any residual smell is completely removed. We would have been happy to have made other accommodations for you during your stay, had we known of the issue. As far as the odor in the hallway, that is from years of allowing smoking in the Lodge. This will no longer be an issue as the renovated Lodge will no longer allow for smoking inside the building. We are so sorry to have let you down on this occasion, but would very much appreciate the opportunity to impress you on any future visit to the area.

We saw pic online and read reviews before we picked this place, but let me tell you, do not waste your money. Yes they have a golf course but its nothing special. The lobby is nice but rooms are not. We got the deluxe room, it was anything but deluxe. It was a big dark room facing the so called golf course. Don't stay here unless you have no other place to go.

We had stayed at the lodge approximately ten years ago, and our stay two weekends ago revealed that the lodge had sadly deteriorated since that time - I hope not due to it becoming a park lodge. The lobby is still lovely, but as other indiividuals note, the room in which we stayed, particularly the bathroom, was dated, but far worse, was unclean. Typically, we always leave a generous tip for housecleaning, but even I felt that was undeserved. The toilet rim was disgusting when viewed from the shower and the floor was dirty. I understand that renovations are presently underway, and that money may not be always available for upgrades, but the fact that a hotel cannot at least ensure the cleaniness of their rooms simply reflects poorly on the management of the hotel. That said, the front desk was staffed by a very helpful and pleasant woman who was quite gracious,.

I would like to address your concern over the change in ownership of our Lodge. Glacier Park, Inc. purchased the Grouse Mountain Lodge and took over operations in Winter of 2011. At the time of your visit, the Lobby, Lounge, and main entry way were already completed, as well as many of our rooms. The rest of the rooms will be renovated beginning in the fall of 2012 and completed for the 2013 summer season. You can be rest assured that this change in ownership will bring much needed updating and restore life back into this great Lodge. As a part of our effort to constantly improve the quality of our service, I am going to pass on your review to our company president, but you should know that our cleaning staff is always happy to address any special concerns of our guests immediately upon request. Thank you for taking your time to interact with us here on TripAdvisor.

The lodge sits in a great location on a golf course just a few blocks from downtown. We pulled up and were impressed by the property and the furnishings inside the main lobby area, but that feeling quickly left us once we entered our room. The bathroom was straight out of the 80's with Formica counters and old crappy linoleum. The rest of the room was shabby - carpets were worn and dirty (not vacuumed) and the bed was uncomfortable. The room was pretty big with a vaulted ceiling but the nicest part was the lamp shades. It was quiet as nobody was staying there, and the restaurant was closed. One half of the hotel is currently under renovation - hopefully they continue the renovations into the other half afterwards. The service was excellent, though - they had a free shuttle from the hotel into downtown and back which we made use of, and the front desk person lowered the rate to $79 from the $89 rate offered when booking on their website. I wouldn't be inclined to stay here again.
