Great condominium if you are looking for the perfect residence while skiing Whitefish Resort. Nothing better than being able to put on your ski boots and head out in the morning. The view from our condo (and it was on the ground floor) overlooking the valley, was beyond incredible. There are several restaurants on the hill, a little market, tourist and ski shops, and true to Montana, a few saloons... The staff on the mountain and in the surrounding shops are very friendly/helpful, and seem like they genuinely like what they are doing... There are a few downsides to the particular condominium we were staying in (109). The beds need to be replaced, especially the twin beds, which I have no words for. It would be nice if they provided heavier bedding, vs. having to crank up the base board heat (which is very sensitive to any change), and is very hard to find that 'just right' temperature. There are a few things I can be picky over...but let's put it this way. If you want to ski and be close to the mountain and all the facilities that Whitefish Resort has to provide ~ then this is the place to stay - - however, you will need to be okay with it not being a high end residence. The walls are a little thin, and there will be a few things that you will wish were different. But the end outcome is, it is a perfect place to have a great vacation for you and your family and friends, if that is what you choose.
We rented this condominium through RCI, I do not know what the units normally rent for, so cannot provide you with an idea of the cost value.

This was our second trip to Edelweiss, our first being 15 years ago. And it was even better the second time around. Our 1 bedroom unit, (unit 209, a timeshare exchange), was comfortable, clean and came with a magnificent view. The full kitchen was well stocked so cooking was easily done. There are so many things to do at Big Mountain, zip lines, alpine slides, walks in the tree tops, etc. There is also an indoor swimming pool just a 5 minute walk away. Our daughter, 8 years old, enjoyed the area as much as we did. Take advantage of everything that is offered at the Base Lodge. You will not be disappointed. There is also good wireless internet access in each unit.

We stayed in a unit that was owned by an individual and exchanged through a timeshare company. This unit was very clean and had an extensive array of cooking supplies and equipment. Since we were about five miles from town down a steep and winding road, we ate most of our meals in the unit. This owner also had a propane patio grill which we used. The other units shared charcoal grills in a common area. This group of condos did not have their own hot tub and pool. Instead, we were given a key that gave us access to the hot tub and pool at the Big Mountain Resort. We had to walk about 1/4 mile to get to it. It was a pleasant walk in the fresh mountain air surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. Since this was the off-season, virtually everything was closed. They close about the last week of September marking the end of summer and reopen about the first week of December for ski season. The staff was very nice. We also had to use the internet at Big Mountain Resort, but, since they only have dial-up access, it was too frustrating to use. We went to the library in Whitefish to use their computers. It was a great home base from which to see Glacier Park and the surrounding area. Would stay here again.

Stayed at the Edelweiss for the first time in 1989 when I first visited Whitefish, and later lived there for a few years. Spectacular wildlife, skiing, fishing, mountain biking, hiking. Then returned for a weekend in 2007 and once again stayed on the mountain at Edelweiss. Great staff, clean space and superb surroundings. Food could use a lift, otherwise, top drawer.

We spent the last week of August, 2009 at The Edelweiss at Big Mountain near Whitefish Montana. What a fun place! Most people seek the area out during winter for the great ski slopes. In August, we found it uncrowded with so much to do. We took a tram up to the summit and hiked down a pleasant 6 mile trail stopping only for lunch in a field of flowers overlooking the majestic Glacier National Park. We went zip lining, we rode sleds (yes in summer!) and we "Walked in the Trees", which was a fun experience 70 feet above the ground in a beautiful forest canopy.

We drove 35 miles to Glacier National Park which was heavenly. Endless hiking trails, quiet solitude (especially if you arrive early), and beautiful lakes await you. We went a second day to fly fishing on the North fork of the Flathead river. My husband had a productive day catching and releasing some trophy rainbow and cutbow trouts.

Can't wait to return to a winter of skiing one day.
