“Excellent stay”
Reviewed March 12, 2014 via mobile

No frills, but excellent prices and great service! Staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Great homemade breakfast every morning, not crappy waffles from a machine. Ski in/ski out to whitefish every day!! Pretty basic but if you are skiing every day what more do you need??

We booked a 4 day ski and stay package at Hibernation House. This met our needs and expectations to a tee. This is not a fancy place but staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms clean and comfortable. It caters to skiers by providing secure free lockers for equipment and equipment to dry boots after skiing. An added bonus is the complimentary cooked breakfast every morning. Easy access to lifts by skiing out or by shuttle to main lifts. The lobby is cozy and comfortable. They also have a hot tub for those who like to indulge. Not to mention skiing Whitefish is outstanding. Have never found a better all round deal. I highly recommend this place and plan on returning.

*Great price
*Good on hill ski in/ski out location (Hailey's Run back to the Hib is fun!)
*Yummy breakfast options
We did a ski & stay package which was a great deal, you really can't beat the price anywhere in Whitefish! Basic, clean and simple rooms, you aren't paying for luxury here but it covers what you need. Lots of storage which is handy for all your riding gear. We had a room with two queen beds on the second floor, the beds were too soft for our preference but still comfortable enough to catch some much needed sleep after a day on the hill.

Good breakfast, hot and cold options. I don't have any food restrictions, but the staff were helpful to those that did, making scrambled eggs without the ham and such. There is always hot coffee and hot chocolate on the go, and a good selection of teas. Also there are some tasty baked goods available for purchase if you need that sugar boost after some runs on the hill.

The shuttle buses are good and frequent. They will call and see where on the route the driver is which is nice. The shuttle that takes you to the hill ends at 6pm, but you can still have someone contacted at Guest Services that can come pick you up and take you down to the Snow Bus pickup at the Base Lodge. This was unfortunately not shared with us until our last day but is a great service that they provide.
The not so good:
The walls are thin, so it can be loud, but the only time there was an issue was on the Friday. Something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper, or invest in some good ear plugs!
The WIFI is BAD! You can only really get it in the sitting area by the front door which gets chilly quick with people going in and out. Even then it's pretty hit and miss and still slow when you get on.

Overall I would stay here again and recommend it to friends or anyone wanting to hit up a great mountain on a budget.

Room Tip: *Heaters in rooms are sensitive! I'd suggest turning up the hit a bit at a time otherwise it'...

We stayed at the Hibernation House for 5 planned nights but due to a very delayed Amtrak, ended up staying 6 nights. Which was totally fine and fun for all of us! Big family/friend ski trip, there was 21 of us in all. We LOVED the Hibernation House. It is so warm and welcoming. The lobby has a fireplace and comfy leather couches and loves seats and rocking chairs. There is a table with chairs for doing puzzles and playing games. Also a computer and internet service to use. The staff was incredible! We were a large group...loving but at times loud ( during the SEAHAWKS game !! GO HAWKS!!) but they were so accommodating and helpful. The rooms are kind of small but comfortable with refrigerators in them. Bring a blow dryer ladies if you need one = } The breakfast every morning was complimentary and delicious! Eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, bagels etc. Coffee is always on, too . OH and the best part...SKI IN..SKI OUT!!! We booked through Austin and also got discounted lift tickets. The torchlight parade on New Years Eve was unforgettable~~ We would definitely come back. Thank you, Hib House

Hibernation House is a great place to stay on the mountain if you're looking for a no frills, yet clean, hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff. We arrived late at night, checked in, had a great nights sleep and even a hot (and continental) breakfast the next morning. Its in a great location that you can ski directly to and skiing away is fairly easy also as the ski trail is only a short walk across an adjacent parking lot. Great Value on the Mountain, we'll be back.

Let me start by saying, we went to ski. We are mid 60's. It was mid week Jan and we stayed 3 nights. I think it was sold out. That said, how could you ask for a better spot anywhere close to this price. Ski in and out. Of course, there is a shuttle if you want to wait about one or two minutes for it, and it takes you right to the lift or village. We did both. Both great. I won't get into how much we enjoyed the skiing here. I'm intermediate, my husband is expert.
The room was small. If you are on the first floor, a queen and bunks, 2 queens on 2nd. The windows look out over the parking lot and valley in the front and at the mountain, real close, no view at the back. We were on the first floor and thought that we would have noise overhead, but didn't hear a sound. There are for corner rooms, which if had been available, I would have requested facing the valley. The rooms were clean and had big new TVs and a frig. We usually ate a sandwich in our room for lunch and relaxed before skiing out to the slopes again. The common rooms were nice and there is a ski vault if you want to leave your skis there instead of your room, also a hot tub. Breakfast was great. Eggs and hash browns or french toast and sausage, or pancakes and bacon depending on the day. There is all the usual stuff also and coffee, tea, cocoa all day long. The people are ridiculously nice. The people staying were a nice mix of young, old and families. If you are looking for luxury, please save everyone the aggravation and book a luxury place. If you are looking for a convenient place to sleep after having a fabulous day, this is the place.
We ate at the Hellroaring Cafe and Bar. It had really good food and a nice atmosphere. Not cheap, but reasonable for the excellent food.

Room Tip: If you are on the first floor, a queen and bunks, 2 queens on 2nd. The windows look out over the pa...

Super place to stay at a super mountain! You talk to Katie who works with you to get the reservations you want at Hibernation House and on the slopes. Then, there's Kathy at Hibernation House to warmly welcome you and there is always delicious coffee and hot chocolate 24 hours. The rooms are small, yet perfect for a family of four -- bunk beds for the kids. And, Kathy makes delicious breakfasts, along with setting out cereal, fat free, low-fat, whole, and soy milk, bagels, english muffins, and a selection of breads. You can ski in and ski out or take the shuttle to the lifts. Just a super place to stay!
