Great way to get away from the crowds at the national park. Plenty of good trails with varying distances and difficulties. Don't know how much damage the current fires there are doing. I recommend Stanton Lake hike which is about 4.5 miles round trip, moderate difficulty, and a very lovely payoff at the end.

We camped here with the kids and it was incredible! Beautiful lake to kayak and a great hike up to a waterfall! Definitely great for day use or for camping!

Flathead National Forest encompasses a large territory adjacent to Glacier National Park. We enjoyed this beautiful place by taking a lift to the top of Whitefish Mountain (where there is a forest service nature center in the Summit Mountain House and opportunities to hike on the Danny On Memorial trail), by rafting on the middle fork of the Flathead River and by driving the east shore of Flathead Lake to the National Bison Range.

The Flathead National Forest contains some of the pristine lake, rivers & creeks anywhere in the world. The mountain sides are plush with foliage providing a wonderful habitat for animals and humans alike!

If you ever come to MT, this is one of the best places to visit, any season, any reason. Flat out beautiful, you could get lost here, never seems busy.
