Attraction details
Owner description: Whitefish Mountain Resort, in northwest Montana, is noted for its laid-back vibe, world-class skiing, and unbeatable value. The resort sees an average of 300 inches of snow on its 3,000 acres, and is as well known for a pleasant lack of lift lines as for its consistently good snow conditions. When the snow melts, Whitefish Mountain Resort becomes home to thrilling zip lines and an alpine slide, world-class downhill and cross-country mountain biking, and the unique Walk in the Treetops, in addition to spectacular hiking, water sports, fly fishing, whitewater rafting, Glacier National Park, and more available in the greater Whitefish area. It is the perfect base camp for a summer visit to Montana’s majestic Flathead Valley.

“Great views on a clear day!”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

I love the view from the various aspects at this resort on a clear day. The view of Glacier National Park is outstanding. But there are days when it is foggy and you can't see anything, such is life in the mountains during the winter.
Nice selection of ski terrain. Lodge at the top of the mountain is a nice place to stop and enjoy a drink and food during the course of the day.
The plans for the new lift for next year will make it even better. Then hopefully there will be new lift to the top of Hell Roaring Basin some day, so you have to take two lifts to take another run in the Basin.

“Fantastic groomer skiing”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

Great hill to learn carving and speed. Groomers were very nicely prepared and very wide. Tree skiing was fun in the afternoon: lack of fresh snow.

“Great skiing at a fine resort”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

More snow than any of the ID or WA resorts this year. My wife and I felt like we were the only ones on most of the runs we skied. Happy to see the statue of Jesus is still on the mountain! We love to stay at our timeshare in Meadow Lake nearby. Friendly people all over the mountain. Military ID holders get a discount on skiing.

“New Year's Eve at "Big Mountain" Rocks!”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

What can I say other than it is a GREAT place to ski and celebrate the New Year. Torchlight parade was bigger than I have ever seen, the fireworks were spectacular, the Rail Jam was entertaining, and it was simply wonderful!
