“Tasty Lunch”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We came upon the Branding Iron on our round about way to Bonanza Creek Ranch. The place was very busy ( The Red Ants Pants Music Festival was right outside town). Our service and food was perfect. Best Denver sandwich I've ever had! Home town and good!

“Food was good”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

No ambiance to speak of, except maybe that of a small Montana town, but the people were friendly and the food good. We had tried various local diners as we traveled the Northwest and my husband had been disappointed in the food he found there. Here, he tried the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. He was pleasantly surprised to find it flavorful and just right. I ordered the French dip dressed with lettuce and onions, and sweet potato fries. I'm a Southerner and know a thing or two about sweet potato fries, and these were perfect. The French bread was crisp, the beef thin sliced and tasty. We split a piece of French silk pie which was not excellent but still good.

I do have to say I was hoping to find trout or other local fish at The Branding Iron. We had found it only once during our several-day travel across Idaho and Montana. No luck at the Branding Iron. There was halibut, salmon, and walleye on the menu, but when I inquired whether the fish was from Montana, I was told it was not.

Be sure to look for the red water glasses that are already stacked on the table, off to the side. The waitress brought us a pitcher of water and we kept waiting for glasses. She had to point them out to us. The flatware is in a cup on the table too.

Prices were reasonable. We would go there again.

“Great burger awesome pie”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

We've eaten at this nice little local cafe several time while travelling through White Sulphur. The burgers and fries are EXCELLENT. It's not your typical pre-pressed frozen pattie. It's a nice thick fresh burger hot off the grill. They generally have a wide variety of pies to choose from as well.

“Very good food (on the road again)”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

Very good eats for a local roadside diner. Slow service on a Sunday noon because almost of the town folks seemed to be eating and talking here. There was even a German couple, perhaps because the nearby hot springs has water composition similar to Baden-Baden. Soup excellent, and good fried meal options. Definitely not gourmet, but good anyway for a real Montana diner.

“Homestyle cooking”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Very friendly service. Nothing fancy. Excellent food and reasonable prices.

Given the number of locals eating there (my personal standard for how good a restaurant is in a small town), I'm inclined to believe it's the best dining opportunity in town.
