“Great lodging, wonderful owner.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

I have stayed in West Yellowstone a dozen times, and most affordable lodging is dark, dank and in poor shape.

This is very clean, with high def TV, free wifi, toiletry samples, snacks and chocolate for guests in the lobby, high end toiletries in room, list goes on.
Park your car right outside your door. Brian was so helpful, he took us in the room and demonstrated all the features, heater/AC/Direct TV. Great value, well maintained, brightly lit room, extra towels. Owners have everything covered.

Great restaurant across the street, and very nice shop adjacent to restaurant.

My wife and I stayed at the Alpine Motel for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed a whole lot longer. We couldn't praise the motels owners Patty and Brian any higher. They are extremely friendly and amazingly helpful. Each day they gave us great ideas and insights on what to visit and also recommended a few restaurants to eat at.
The rooms are ideally located at the west entrance of Yellowstone national park. The bed was extremely comfortable which gave us a good nights sleep after big days at the park.
Thanks again to Patty and Brian for helping make our time at Yellowstone so enjoyable and we hope to visit again in the future

The other reviews are certainly accurate, from our three night experience. I really want to grade this family hotel with five points, but it is not perfect. The hosts are genuinely nice and helpful people. The price was very reasonable for what we got. I did not expect a Loew's or Ritz Carlton, so we were not disappointed. The Wifi was great, as was the digital television. The toiletries were exceptional, and the entire room was immaculate. That said, several times the hot water pressure in the very small shower stall changed, from toilet flushing in another room I can only assume, so it made taking a shower an adventure. The room was quite small, although efficiently put together. However, we reserved the last room available when we called 3 months in advance, so expected the smallest room. Sounds like the Best Western has more traditional sized rooms, but you pay more for that also. We were very satisfied.

Room Tip: Be sure to call early to get the largest room available.

I actually canceled a reservation at another (probably nicer) hotel because I wanted to stay at Trip Advisor's #1 lodging in West Yellowstone. Whoops!

The biggest positive, as most people mention, is the outstanding customer service. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Patty showed us to our room, talked to us about the area, and they even have a big bucket for ice to help you fill up your cooler. It looked like they were out cleaning the rooms themselves the next morning, so they are very hands-on. They told us to help ourselves to the candy on the counter, and they also have free granola bars, coffee and hot chocolate in the office. Another positive is 2 luggage racks for your luggage. The motel was clean, the towels looked new, and the tub drained well. It was extremely close to the west entrance of Yellowstone, as is the whole tourist town of West Yellowstone.

However, you pretty much had to be a contortionist in order to be able to use the toilet. Our room had the SMALLEST bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. It reminded me of an airplane bathroom, except there is actually a lot more toilet room in an airplane. If you are a tall person, you will either have your knees rubbing against the door while on the toilet, or you'll have to open the door. I can't imagine what they were thinking when they built the bathroom.

The location is downtown, so there is not any kind of a nice view. The room was small, and the the TV was very small and way up near the ceiling. Breakfast is not included. There is a grocery store just down the road, and between Memorial Day and Labor Day there is a variety of places to eat. Do be aware that before Memorial Day, many restaurants you may read about on reviews may not be open.

I saw much nicer-looking places to stay while we were in West Yellowstone. I am shocked that Alpine was rated #1. I would not stay here again unless all other lodging was booked or very expensive. (Alpine cost us less than $100.) If they remodel, update, and enlarge the bathrooms, it would be hard to beat because of the customer service.

We had such a great stay here!! Brian and Patty were the best and took extra time to give us pointers about the town and Yellowstone. Bathroom was a little small, but everything was very clean and overall the room was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

Write this review on the last night of our three night stay at the Alpine. All the good things you've read before in these reviews is true, so I won't repeat. Just want to add that when I made the reservation, I mentioned that we would be spending our anniversary with them and when we arrived, there was bud vase of flowers in our room. You don't get that kind of attention from a chain. Thank you Patty and Brian. You made us feel like family. Now, if only we could persuade the motel cats to sleep in the guest rooms if invited....

We've spent 3 nights in the Alpine motel, upstairs room 14, and it was the perfect location to visit Yellowstone NP. The park entrance is only 1 mile away and West Yellowstone has sufficient places to eat.

We were greeted warmly by Brian and Patty, given a tour of our room. They always gave us the feeling that nothing was too much trouble to ask. Room was big with 2 queen beds and great shower ammenities. Only minor point is that the walls i n between rooms are rather thin, so you do hear yor neighbours.

For breakfast we went to the Running Bear, good recommendation!
