“Visitor Center not open”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Such a fascinating story . . . and the memorial was amazing. Great parking area and small walks to various plaques with interesting facts and of course the landscape . . . just disappointed that the visitor center was still not open.

“Worth the drive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Although very sad, the history of the event is interesting. Views in this area are stunning. Pull off at Refuge Point to learn how some survived the quake by getting to higher ground and then working together--a tribute to the human spirit.

“Quake Lake tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

It was very interesting but disappointing because the visitor center was closed. Long ride and no services. There was a self guided walk with signs. The kids enjoyed it when we got there, but the ride was too long for them.

Great views, disappointing that the Earth Quake center was closed. They should really post approximate re-opening date.

“Don't miss this...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

It was a very pretty drive back to the lake. The visitor's center was closed, but all the paths were open and you could still learn a lot from the signs that are posted.
This place is amazing. I thought that there would be a lot of recovery since 1959, but the slide is all rock still, and there are tops of dead trees in the lake.
If you go, do a little research first. You'll appreciate it more!
