We stumbled onto Parade Rest Ranch when looking for a cookout experience - the one inside the park was full. The West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce told me about Parade Rest, so I called them up. Their price for a cabin with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms was less expensive than any other rooms we'd had on the whole trip, so I made a reservation for one two nights, including Friday night so we could do the horseback ride and wagon trail cookout.

When we arrived, everyone was so friendly, the cabin was clean and nicely kept up, kids were playing in the central play area, it was just so fabulous!

Unfortunately, a storm blew in Friday night so we were unable to go out for the cookout but they served up a delicious dinner in the dining room and we enjoyed the cowboy music too. The next day, we went for a wonderful horseback ride and enjoyed meeting everyone else who was staying there. We didn't want to leave, we ended up adding another night to our stay just because this place was so great, it was a wonderful end to a great trip out west for us and became our favorite part of the entire adventure.

As hotel only guests, breakfast is included with the very reasonable room rate. This breakfast is as good as it gets folks. Wander into a dining room, sit down and look over a breakfast menu that's simple yet has everything you'd want. Made to order mouth-watering eggs, hashbrowns and toast - I know it sounds simple but it's a very luxurious way to wake up in the mountains of Montana. I usually skip breakfast, but at Parade Rest Ranch I went to bed each evening looking forward to breakfast and the entire day enjoying the memory of the delicious morning meal!

We are already talking about going back to Parade Rest Ranch and staying as all-inclusive guests to experience more of what they offer. (More meals!! :) )

With so many horrible motels in town, this is the place to stay in West Yellowstone. We had the Upper Aspen cabin, 3 bedrooms, 4 beds (only one shower- which was not ideal), two of the baths each have a toilet. Cozy living space, nice deck. A bit of a walk which was nice. We stayed as 'hotel only guests' meaning we did not pay for the dude ranch/ horse riding. Breakfast was included, cooked to order- for a family of 5 it is a great value- basically a cabin/ house with made to order breakfast. You are 15 minutes from the Yellowstone West gate. We took two mornings and paid for 1 hr trail rides on site, kids loved it. Breakfast was good, breakfast service was very good. They have a TV room with a foosball table, and a piano. Really nice people- so much better than a crusty motel in town- cheaper, more comfortable and a real breakfast.

Room Tip: Upper Aspen is the best for larger families, but you may have neighbors below you.

We stayed at the Ranch for a week in July/August 2012. It was the most wonderful experience and my family and me didn't want to leave. The staff are all very friendly and the wranglers very experienced and were great with the kids. We stayed on the inclusive packaged, which included accomodation, meals, horse riding, fishing and even a trip round Yellowstone Park.

The cabin was great - a real traditional log cabin which was spotlessly clean, fresh towels every day. But the real surprise for us was there wasn't a lock on the door as it's just not needed.

The food was all home cooked and excellent and they provided a packed lunch if you were out on a trip. If you visit try to make a cook out at this was great fun and even better food.

We did as much horse riding as we could mange with upto 4 rides a day, from 1 to 4 hours at a time. The horses are lovely, very well kept and very friendly and the wranglers did an excellent job of matching people to horses. We never went on the same trail twice and saw such breath taking scenery that it felt like we were in a film.

My partner went fly fishing using the equipement on the ranch and although he didn't catch any I think it was more due to him rather that the tackle! He still enjoy it. The kids did paddle in the creek but only for a minute or so as the water is straight from the montains and is sooooo cold.
On Sundays the horses and wranglers get a day off and we went on a trip to Yellowstone Park. This was fantastic and we saw some great sights including elk and buffalow.

The ranch overall is such a great place for kids as they can have a bit of freedom to explore, ride bikes, play in the creek, but most of all make friends with the other kids there. All the staff, from the office, dining room, kitchen, wranglers, cleaners, handymen, everyone were all so friendly and helpful it felt like one big family and they adopted us for a week.

Came back and started saving so we can go again.

If you do decide to visit don't forget to get a cookie from the jar in the dining room - they are the best cookies in the world!

Room Tip: Have a look on website as it lists all the cabins and locations

We found this place when our old favorite 3Bears hotel had no vacancies. They recommended their sister lodge. We absolutely loved the quiet and comfortable cabin we stayed in. I think ours was Homestead North. It sat between two other cabins above the office, dining hall, and entertainment cabins. We had a pot belly stove for heat and it didn't take long to heat the place up.

If you are looking for luxury don't stay here, but if you want to experience a real rustic cabin on a ranch but in comfort, this is just the ticket. There are no TVs or kitchen facilities in the cabin and they are not set up for sitting around. Ours had only one semi comfortable chair, leaving one of us to sit on the bed or a hard desk chair. This was not a problem as we generally arrived back late from exploring the area and went to bed fairly quickly each night!

The cabin was clean and tidy and the staff came in and made up the bed and brought fresh towels each day. There were bars of soap in the bathroom vanity which we didn't find until we were leaving, but we had our own since we had been camping prior to our stay. No shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair dreyer, etc are provided so bring your own.

You need to give a day's notice if you want to eat lunch or dinner in the dining hall. They serve one thing for dinner each night and plan to serve the exact number of guests who sign up. Breakfast is included in the price and is made to order with traditional breakfast options available. It was plentiful and quite good. They also had a large cookie jar full of yummy cookies to help yourself to.

They offer trail rides and other family activities. We just needed a place to stay and did not participate in the activities. This would be a really great place for a family reunion.

Room Tip: They offer a variety of cabins from single beds up to luxury cabins with hot tubs so ask for descriptions of each.

Great Vacation with the help of Marge and staff at Parade Rest. Everyone was beyond friendly and helpful. The food was very good and more than enough, along with the great cookouts. Ready to accomodate activities that you want to do on the ranch or in Yellowstone. Very close to Yellowstone. The wranglers were great also for all ages and rider types. For people who want the western mountain experience we stayed in the Yellowstone cabin , which had more than enough room. Rooms taken care of daily and stocked with fresh towels and T.P. This is not a resort so don't expect it to be not like a CABIN. Only note, we like to have a few adult beverages, BYOB, and grab one of their coolers-they have an ice bin, worked fine. We will definetly be back and would stay here again after being in town and Yellowstone looking at the lodging. If you just want a room, do a hotel, if you want an experience, stay at Parade Rest.

Room Tip: Yellowstone cabin affords three sleeping areas, 2 baths
