Brook Trout Inn
Reviewed October 5, 2010

The Brook Trout Inn is absolutely the perfect Yellowstone Retreat. It is about 6-7 miles west of the west entrance to Yellowstone. Because we wanted 4 nights in the area & could not get consecutive nights at any of the houses at Brook Trout Inn, we stayed 2 nights in Bull Elk Lodge & 2 nights in the Kozy Cabin.

Bull Elk Lodge: One word. AMAZING. There were only two of us and a small Shih Tzu, so we felt like we were rattling around a little in this amazing place. If you have a large family, this place would be perfect. Bill, the host, does beautiful woodwork & I venture to guess that he built the dining table which seats 12. The lodge (very large house) had three normal bedrooms and a huge back L-shaped bedroom area with two queens & three twins - with a foosball table & an electric fireplace. The gorgeous, big kitchen had everything and anything you might need. We had two restful, quiet nights in the Bull Elk Lodge.

Kozy Cabin: Small and cozy. Period. We really liked staying in this cabin. The kitchen cabinets are amazing because Bill is a magician with wood. I love those cabinets! It seems obvious the cabin has been continuously updated and it is very comfortable. It was a very nice retreat after a day in Yellowstone.

The only downside for me was that the wifi was not working as it should have been in the cabin. It worked great in Bull Elk! We will return. Thank you, Bill!

We stayed at the Bull Elk Lodge & it was perfect for our group. We had 6 adults and 6 children & there was room to spare. The cabin was large and comfortable and had everything you needed from kitchen supplies to linens, a grill, wireless internet etc. Beautiful location with trees and a view of the mountains. It is close to the west entrance of Yellowstone but you are out of town and have more privacy & quiet. We were lucky enough to see some moose eating in the woods by our cabin which was one of the highlights for the kids. Bill was a great host & we were all extremely happy with our accomodations. We would highly recommend the Bull Elk Lodge, especially for a larger group-with or without kids. I would definitely stay there again. Loved it!

The online photos don't do this place justice. It's bigger and better in real life. Spotless, spacious, great kitchen appliances, well stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and super comfortable. The 5 kids took over the giant u-shaped bedroom in the back. They all went nuts over the foosball table. Loved the beautiful dining room table which seats 12 . There are huge windows (floor to ceiling) in the dining room and living room where we saw deer and squirrels. The owner, Bill was wonderful. He brought supplies such as paper towels and aluminum foil as soon as we mentioned that we had run out. Based on Bill's advice, we brought our own lunches into Yellowstone everyday. Anything to avoid the $6 hot dog. Bill was kind enough to let us borrow some large ice chests that really came in handy. There is true pride of ownership at the Bull Elk Lodge, don't miss the opportunity to experience this home away from home.

We stayed at Bull Elk Lodge with 5 toddlers and 10 adults, and it was great! There was space aplenty, the kitchen was well stocked, and the place was sparkling clean! I would recommend a stay here in an instant! The price is great, too!

We stayed in Kozy Cabin at the Brook Tout Inn. It is a log cabin that has loads of charm. IT is not fancy but you feel as if you ae out west. It is a nice size and accomadated the four of us comfortably. We were out west for ten days and stayed in condo's and the Hilton and of all the places we stayed this was the kids favorite.

We had a family reunion and stayed and the Bull Elk. We all were very impressed when we got there. The place was cleaner and nicer than the pictures show with plenty of utensils and tp notch appliances. And Bill was an AMAZING host! He actually brought my mom a birthday cake! Don't hesitate to stay!

We stayed at the Bull Elk Lodge, and it was our favorite place to stay in our Yellowstone vacation. The cabin (its really a house), is spacious and has a full kitchen, with nice appliances. Very clean and well kept up.
This cabin has 3 main bed rooms, a laundry room, and what I have to call a mayor multi-family/multi-people big room with about 8 beds. Jetted tub, nice shower.
In the living room it has satellite TV, wireless internet in all the cabins, DVD player, decks with picnic tables, it just has all the amenities.
Bill, the owner, is also very easy to talk to and was a pleasure to deal with.

We did stay one night in the Cozy Cabin, and its just that: Cozy and more rustic but again the website nor Bill claims anything but.
