“Wonderful Guide - Great Trip”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

We signed up for a trip on Hebgen Lake and just "because" they decided we were going to do the Madison River to Hebgen Lake. We had an absolutely perfect day - no wind - and didn't have to paddle much at all so was really a float for us :-). Deb was our guide as we meandered down the river; we saw white pelicans, a few immature bald eagles, several osprey, an adult bald eagle (flew by no pictures), lots of ducks and geese (one of the other travelers was a birder and knew them all). It was a perfect way to end out week visit to Yellowstone.

“Great Little Trip”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

My husband and I booked the Lake Hebgen half day guided kayak tour with Lava Creek as a side trip from Yellowstone NP. Because our motel was very close to their office, they picked us up, and drove us to the Lake. Our guide, David, was very friendly and personable. The lake and the surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. Only snag in the trip was the wind, which made getting ahead a challenge. David was knowledgeable and receptive to what we wanted to do on the Lake. When the wind picked up and we were nearing the dock, we decided to call it early and be taken back to our hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip with Lava Creek in the future.

“Beautiful fall kayak float”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

Nice local folks that really know/live the area (great restaurant recommendations from them as well). We did their river float and lake paddle - a bit hard to see on their website BUT you must do the float part - float on the Madison river into lake Hedgen. I wished we could have floated the river part all day. Tons of wildlife along the way.

“Best Part of our Trip”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

We took a 12 day trip out west to visit Yellowstone and Glacier. As part of our trip, we booked the Cliff Lake Trip with Lava Creek. Debbie was our guide. We spent most of the day kayaking around Cliff Lake, observing moose, bald eagles and other birds of prey. We had a wonderful picnic lunch on a small island in the middle of the lake [lunch was delicious]. For most of our trip we were the only ones on the lake. The lake was serene, glassy and the water appeared to be greenish-blue, like the carrebean. Debbie was a wonderful guide. The trip was worth every penny and was easily the highlight of our trip. When we go back to that area of the country, we will definitely contact Lava Creek Adventures for another go around.

“Highlight of our trip”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

It's not easy managing a large group of people, with different ages, attention spans (our adult "kids" and our little ones) and expectations. Lava Creek did a terrific job of making sure every person in our group had a very memorable experience out the two days we spent with them. We were 15 people, 4 kids, 3 Tweens and a teenager. David and Dan (and Brenda on the second day) were engaging, enthusiastic and so knowledgeable! We split our days of tours and did several days of self touring, but everyone agreed that we saw more and learned more the days with Lava Creek; it was really one of the highlights of our amazing trip. We probably most enoyed the occasions that David got us off the beaten path to see some very special parts of the park, with not another person around us. It's a true indicator of how well they communicated their love of the area with us, when our group uniformly agreed that this topped the list of vacations we have taken together (and we have been traveling annually together for 15 years)!
