There is nothing as beautiful as seeing such big ancient cedars growing in an area that is beautiful in itself. It's just so pristine and a pleasant sight to see. You walk along a nice path and your eyes will be feasting upon the beauty of all the cedar trees in this grove. They are twisted and shaped in several different ways and the sizes of these cedars are incredible!!!!! It is so worth the trip to go see these beautiful trees!!!!! What a lovely thing to see when you are out on a "Sunday" drive, just passing through, or simply wanting to see some ancient cedar trees!

This is a magical, beautiful place just 30 minutes from Clark Fork, Idaho. Easy access, level and well maintain paths.

This is a most unusual grove. Huge huge trees of old-growth cedars perhaps seen a century ago. A hike through the grove is easy walking. It's worth a visit.

We always enjoy our walks through this place and are forever fascinated by the old trees here that sometimes seem to have human anatomy. Summer is best for enjoying the drive and walk, because early or late in the season there can be snow blocking the road in.

First, allot time, and perhaps bring a picnic lunch and camera gear for this outing. You will be surprised at what you find after making the somewhat out of the way trip. The Cedars seem almost misplaced...being more akin in size to the Redwood forests of Coastal California and Costal Washington State. This is a place to see the really big trees if you cannot see the above mentioned areas on the coast. Add in a rushing creek and it becomes even more magical. This can be a short loop trail that most folks can handle. It does not involve climbs. We observed all ages enjoying themselves. And there are picnic tables near the creek. Just remember that in Montana, it can be cold, especially when you enter into the forest. July through September seem most ideal for comfortable visits.
