Description: Our meals are homemade, right in our 1937 log cabin kitchen. We uphold a longstanding tradition; creating wholesome and delicious dishes from only the most pure and nourishing ingredients. Many of our ingredients come from right here in Montana, like our famous Beartooth Burger, made from beef raised in the shadow of the Beartooth plateau. Our ingredients recall home cooking of the past, when folks gathered to share authentic dishes from nearby sources. Like the meals we all might have tasted at grandmother’s table years ago, the Log Cabin serves a feast of fresh, hearty and delicious flavors! For Yellowstone explorers seeking real recipes to fuel their passionate wilderness quests— weary of finding only overcooked, overpriced, brown glob, masquerading as a meal— the Log Cabin offers simple, nutrient-dense meals that surprise the senses. Your sources are sustainable and local rising to the hope of national parks to preserve nature for future generations. And our magical original log dining room soothes modern stressors. Unchanged since 1937— rooted deep like that dense pine forest sheltering us— the Log Cabin and its savory meals have been a timeless treasure for decades.

“Superb.”

We didn't stay at the B&B, but we ate dinner and breakfast at the cafe. We also bought a sack lunch to take into Yellowstone.

We were pleased with everything we ordered and ate! The trout dinner and the steak were delicious. The pumpkin bread was tasty, and the sack lunch was amazing! The ham and cheese sandwich was HUGE. They were out of cookies for the sack lunch, so they gave us some more slices of pumpkin bread instead, which I found to be very generous because they charge $5 a slice. If you are in the area, stop by!

“A Lot in from a Small Log Cabin”
Reviewed June 21, 2014

We picked this place by chance in the village of Silver Gate while passing through. It was the most delightful restaurant our trip. Great service, great food. It certainly has a log cabin rustic feel, and very comfortable, and the restaurant has a long history.

“Excellent”
Reviewed June 19, 2014

We stopped in for dinner on a weeknight and the restaurant was fairly busy. We both ordered the trout dinner and thought it was very good. The fresh squash was wonderfully seasoned and the service was good. It was a bit expensive, but not once you consider the location and have seen what roads lead to Silver Gate. We would stop here again if we had the opportunity.

“The place for breakfast when you are in the Lamar Valley or Cooke City area”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

Several of us go to Lamar Valley to photograph bears and elk in the spring pretty regularly. We found this great restaurant just outside the Northeast Entrance to the park. Great pancakes, super eggs and a variety of meat and sides too.
Everyone was very nice, friendly and the service was fast and our coffee never got half empty before it was refilled. (We get up at daylight and go into the park so that coffee around 10 is really needed.)
It's a historic building that has only had 4 owners since it was built almost a hundred years ago.
Highly recommended...

“A gem of a restaurant at the top of the world”
Reviewed June 12, 2014

We've made a point of dining at the Log Cabin for 16 years - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - every time we travel from our home in Red Lodge to Yellowstone. The place is unpretentious, funky, and perhaps even eccentric, but it serves quality food at reasonable prices, and the service is always personal and friendly. One suggestion: trout, in whatever form it's offered, though we've never regretted any order of something different. You may pass through Silver Gate and Cooke City just once in your life; be sure to make it more memorable at the Log Cabin.
