“One Night Stay with the Kids”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We stayed one night at the St. Mary's Lodge outside of Glacier NP. Their location is excellent and the views amazing. Given the remote-ness and lack of really any other facilities options are limited in the area. I think this must be why their prices were a bit on the high side. We were given a cabin across the road from the main hotel and it did feel disconnected. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant or really frequent the hotel areas at all b/c it required crossing a busy intersection with kids in tow. I did experience amazing customer service with the employees I came in contact with. They went above and beyond to make our stay happy. The cabin was a bit rustic and very tiny. I don't think I could have done more than one night there with 2 vacation crazed kids but for our short term needs it was adequate.

Room Tip: It seems that others recommended asking for an upgrade. I wish I had done that.

Dear Onefinwonder,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on St. Mary Hotel on TripAdvisor. We were glad to read that the staff were hospitable to you and your family, however, we were saddened to read that you would have preferred a different room or cabin, as we would have been more than happy to have accommodated that request for you. We understand traveling with children can be at times difficult and the highway can be fairly busy at times. We hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future and that we can accommodate you in one of the hotel rooms. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip into the park.

Thank you,

Cassandra Sunell

The location of this lodge can't be beat, the $200 room, however, is old, dark, and right on the road. Spring for the $350 room and you'll have a wonderful stay. Each staff member that we interacted with was friendly and helpful. This is a great place to stay and enjoy Glacier National Park.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are basic and very old, it is expensive, but upgrade if you can.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We like the East entrance to Glacier (It is less crowded and more scenic) and this is a wonderful choice for accomodations. We splurged on a deluxe room with a private balcony at the Great Bear Lodge, the newest building on the property. The room was very comfortable and had a nice "great outdoors" theme to it. When we checked in, the elevator was broken and a wonderful young man hauled our stuff up three flights with no complaints and even gave us a history of the lodge and named the mountains veiwable from our balcony. How could you beat that? The elevator was fixed and then broken all through the trip. If someone has mobility issues and just can't make it up stairs, be sure to ask for ground level. You don't have to be up high for a great view of the swift little river and the mountains outside your room. The staff was wonderful. The main dining room had the best food we had in a long time. We had 4 meals there, all just great. The morning we left, we listened to a nasty man scream at our nice desk person about the noise coming from an ice machine close to his room. He was on a ninety day tour and this was "the worst stay so far". I bet he says that on every stay he has had. His loss, we had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: The Great Bear Lodge is very nice

If you are looking for fancy this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a clean and quiet place to stay while visiting Glacier Natl Park this is it. Rooms were very clean. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to my friends.

We stayed one night during our visit to Glacier National Park. When we got there they upgraded our room to a room with bear decor next to a stream next to the park. They have a nice gift shop and we ate at the bar and the food was good. All the staff were friendly, the room was clean and the decor was fantastic. We took a walk towards the park and saw elk, several birds and beautiful scenery. We hope to go back soon!

The most amazing place our family has ever stayed! We were in a room overlooking the stream. It was a magnificent view! It was a little pricey but completely worth it. A great place to stay! The only regret was not staying another night to enjoy the many wonders of Glacier National Park.

Room Tip: Stay on the third floor if possible.

We stayed in a room at the East Motel which, however was extremely small. In order to accommodate our luggage we had to relocate furniture and furnishings. But the East Motel has TVs! Anyway, we virtually only slept in the room; the rest of the day we spent in Glacier Park. The Lodge and other facilities are located across the street and offer everything a visitor requires. The lodge personnel were all very efficient, courteaous and helpful. The restaurant offers great food.

Room Tip: The West Motel and Lodge rooms are supposedly better (larger), but lack TVs, if one needs it.
