Again, not much choice in these parts of the woods! Out of the three Glacier Park, Inc. hotels we stayed in, this had the most modern amenities. Ask for a room in the lodge area. Great views! All these hotels are expensive. DO NOT expect commensurate quality or amenities. You are paying for location ONLY. Beware: forget dining here!

Room Tip: Stay in the lodge area.

We stayed in a Great Bear Room – King Superior. We we were on the 2nd floor. The accommodations were modern, very comfortable, and spacious. We had a flat screen TV, small frig, fireplace, loveseat and chair, and tub/shower combo with jets. There was a mountain view from the room, but there is a tree line along the creek that obstructs some view of the mountains (not bad though). There is a creek that runs behind the hotel, so if you want to walk out and “play” in the creek request a first floor room, if you want a balcony with better views, request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor. There is also air conditioning in the room. Very nice accommodations, recommend a stay at this hotel if you want a couple nights of modern accommodations while visiting the park.

Our room was not in the main lodge but across a road in a tiny, tiny space much like the worst location I can imagine! No view, room was dirty and so small, I had to put my suitcase in the car!!! We had one rickety chair to sit on in the room or else sit in bed! The shower area was moldy, tile coming up on floor, carpet dirty too and the soap crumbled when I used it! If we wanted to sit outside our room, we had only a cement stoop to sit on outsid with no view, and this for $199 per night! They should put guests in the lodge and close forever these terrible "rooms"!!!!

Disgusting. Filthy. Run down. Horrible food. You are better off camping. Stayed here as part of a hiking package deal. Had no idea what I was in for. Got an allergic reaction from the filthy carpets. Not only was the hotel awful; but it did not feel safe.

Room Tip: Stay out of the rooms across the street from the main hotel.

Booking a week long trip to glacier national park late, i took what i could get for accommodations. Stayed 3 nights in St Mary to access the east side of the park. The main building was nice with a decent restaurant and lounge, store, and fireplace area. I stayed across the street in an uninspired building with little character or effort.

Thin walls, broken up parking lot, and a somewhat tired room. Relative to the other lodging associated with Glacier, this felt more like a mom and pop hotel in a commercial district. Adequate but nothing like the rest of the park. Try to stay include the park if possible.

Room Tip: Suggest you stay in the main bldg or another glacier location

My husband and I and another couple took a week trip up through BC and Alberta on our motorcycles and St. Mary was our last night on the road and we were hoping for it to be our best night as sort of a "last hurrah" but boy were we disappointed! The lodge from the outside looks amazing, its well done with the flowers etc and when we pulled in it was like an oasis from a long ride that day and we couldnt wait to get to our rooms but were we ever in for a surprise!

We had made reservations in advance for the basic room, expecting just your basic Motel 6 type room but then they sent us to the basement (which after reading other reviews the management said they only had walk ins go down there and that they were only $89 when we ended up paying $125 with tax and made a reservation!)!

I dont get creeped out easily but just walking down there gave me the willies! I made a joke to my husband that this must be where the ghosts live cause it just had that horror movie feel. We got to our room and were a little taken back! Ripped tiles on the floor, the bathroom door stuck in place because the one side was disconnected from the body and pulled apart. I dont know what bit me in the night but i had five little bites on my chin that woke me in the night itching.

My husband and I were laying on the bed after we'd taken off our gear and were half asleep taking a nap when we heard someone opening our door! I woke up enough to yell, "Can I help you!" before they actually got in and he said he was coming to check out the mosquito room? I said he had the wrong room and he left but who enters a room without even knocking?!

The other couple that was with us had their toilet overflow and maintenance came in with a DRY MOP and just pushed the stuff around, it was horrible! They were on the front side of the hotel and got to see headlights and hear people walk into the building all night.

No TV, no AC, no screens on the windows so you couldnt even get air there, we are planning another trip next year and St. Mary Lodge and Resort will not make the list of hotels this time.

If you do find you need to stay here, make sure you dont get put down in the basement!

We walked in on July 6th 2012 with no reservations. They were very busy, but surprisingly had a room for my husband, daughter and me. The beds were extremely comfortable, room was very clean and the decor was like walking into a Montana Mountain Resort! We were very pleased, but hands down the Best thing about the room was the balcony over looking the river!!! We slept with the door all the way open with the screen closed. Waking up the next morning to the sound of the running river was Great! An added bonus was "Ben" He helped us with our luggage and could not have been more helpful! He told us a Wonderful place to eat right down the road, (we didn't want a big dinner there at the hotel) that was called The Two Sisters, GREAT FOOD!! In fact we all agreed was the best meal we had on our 11 day journey! We also asked Ben where we were most likely to see wildlife that evening. He told us where to go, and WOW was he right...driving down the road in the middle of a small wild flower meadow not 30 feet from the road sat a Grizzly Bear!! Thank You Ben !!

Room Tip: Second floor over looking the river is Very Nice. Also, TV did not have but about 5 channels to cho...
