This KOA could use some leveling. After being put in newly constructed campsite, it was not level, had two dropoffs and was not wide enough to accomodate our steps. We specified our trailer size when we made the reservation. After complaining twice we were moved but it appears that most sites need some leveling work.

I'm sitting at my computer getting ready to book another summer vacation to Glacier National Park. I love consulting trip advisor to see any updates since my last visit. The lady from Brentwood talked about the KOA at St. Mary and could hear running water in the rooms next door. The KOA only has cabins. Most of them are camping cabins, a few of them have kitchens and they are stand alone structures. I think her review was about the St. Mary Lodge and Resort. I only know this, because we've stayed there. Stinky garbage, nose prints on the mirrors, room service not till 5 pm and terribly overpriced. If you are reading this and you are heading to St. Mary for a vacation, stay at Johnson's of St. Mary or the St. Mary KOA. We looked at staying in Many Glacier in July of 2011 but the hotel is under major renovation with half of the rooms being updated. Bummer! Still won't let that keep us from visiting the Crown of the Continent.

I did a lot of research online to try to decide where to stay in St Mary. My husband and I stayed in a Kamping Kabin for one night before going to the Granite Park Chalet for 2 nights, and then we returned to the KOA to stay for 4 nights with my parents, sister and brother-in-law, and my 5-year-old nephew. We rented their 3BR/2BA Kamping Lodge, which was by far the cheapest place to stay in the area with a full kitchen, laundry, grill, and firepit. The "lodge" was actually a trailer wtih faux log siding, and could use some upgrades, but for the price it was perfect and was a very comfortable, private and relaxing place to stay for our group. The KOA and all of its facilities were well-maintained and clean, and the staff was extremely helpful, even providing free coffee for us in the morning since the lodge's coffee maker was missing. The weather was cold so we didn't use the pool or hot tub, but that looked very nice. We did play at the playground and walk around and it seems like a geat place for RV's. The Kamping Kabin was very nice, and since we had our sleeping bags was also a great value compared to the very expensive and overpirced hotel rooms in the immediate area. While staying in the Kamping Kabin, we thought that the common bathsrooms and shower facilities were very clean and had great heat and hot water. They do have free wifi which came in handy. Two things to be aware of: (1) even the lodges do not provide linens so you'll need to bring your own (still a great value since we probably saved over $250 per night over the other options for 7 people in the area to stay together and have a kitchen) and (2) there are bears EVERYWHERE, we saw a big grizzly print in our driveway on the last morning so be careful with food and be bear-aware at all times. Last note - I believe the other review of this facility was written for another place, since there are no hotel or adjoining rooms at the KOA. We did spend some time at the St Mary Lodge lobby and they were dealing wtih complaints about noisy rooms - they seemed to be extremely overpriced and I was very happy with the value we found at the KOA.
