“nothing fancy, but clean and reasonable”
Reviewed September 28, 2009

we stayed here one night on our trip through Yellowstone. Our room was a basement room, but very large and clean...nothing fancy at all, but was comfortable and reasonable....lots of motorcycle tourist there...owner was very cordial, and gave a great recommendation for dinner.

We were a little surprised to find the room we stayed in was in the basement. There was a tiny window with a view of the sprinkler system, and a rattling window air conditioner. The steam bath was very uncomfortable as there was no seat in the bath, and my legs had to sit very close to the extremely hot steam vent. The motel itself appeared nicely presented, and I think if we had one of the upstairs rooms we would have had a better opinion. All in all an average place to stay for one night on the way to somewhere else. There was a hot tub but no instruction on how to use it.

Red Lodge itself was a pleasant town.

Outstanding service at the Yodeler Motel. It was the best rate in town and the owner, Mac, went above and beyond. I pulled up to the hotel with a flat tire, and Mac took the tire off and drove me to the local tire shop. His recommondation for dinner was fantastic! I couldn't think of a more friendly place to stay if you are in Red Lodge!

The room is huge even with two queen beds. There's a big round table in the room to study the many brochures available at front desk and those I've picked up from the Billings airport. Bathroom is very roomy but I didn't quite how to operate the sauna that other guests raved about. Didn't quite matter as I like lying on the bed more than anything after a long day on the road. Except for the cigarette burn mark on the blanket, no complaints. Wanted to try the hot tub outside but it was occupied by another couple when we peeped so didn't join in. Looks quite inviting otherwise.

Owner is warm and friendly, and his cool-looking dog makes it a point to rub noses with guests at the reception area. There's a guest computer with internet access at the reception but it is so slow I guess you spend better time sitting at the porch and watch the day goes by. The wifi didn't work very well in my room either.

The motel is less than 5min walking distance to a great breakfast place called Cafe Regis on W 16th St.

We chose this motel based on the previous reviews. While the new owners are very nice and working hard, we were disappointed in our room. The bedspreads were very faded and worn. The whole room was dated. The housekeepers had to work extra with a large group before us but we still found dirt left behind by the vacuum. There is no breakfast provided but there is a microwave and refrigerator. We simply went to the grocery store and purchased items for the next morning.

Location, location, location... perfectly located a couple of blocks from the core of restaurants, libations, and shopping in Red Lodge. Of course, perfectly located in Montana for the outdoor enthusiast. Had a large spacious room with two queenbeds. New owners extremely gracious, friendly and knowledgeable of local outdoor and adventure activities.
We were on a motorcycle trip. Great parking for bikes. Will stay again when next through Red Lodge

(Mr. and Mrs.) Mac & Tulsa Dean run a fabulous mountain lodge style motel in the middle of "Nowhere, Montana" (actually Red Lodge and my daughter and I really loved the little western town). No McDs, Wendys, Burger King or Taco Bell! The Yodeler's located on Rte212 north of the Beartooth Mt Pass. We lost our transmission and coasted into town! Thank God for the Ford service center on the north side of town. The rooms were large and clean with fantastic steam bath/showers. (But make sure you run the exhaust fan or you will most likely feel like you are suffocating from the steam.) Shackleton is their fierce looking but very friendly German Sheppard. He just wants attention and to play fetch. We stayed at the motel for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute.
happy trails,
