“Served our purposes well”
Reviewed September 15, 2010

We were staying one night in Red Lodge for some hiking and then taking the Highway to Yellowstone. We rented a first floor studio without air conditioning. It was a good value compared to motels and B&Bs in the town.

We were concerned about noise--faces road, pull in parking in front of the unit, another unit upstairs, bed next to the window--but it was quiet with only occasional very low traffic noise that disappeared at night. This area does get hot in the summer--over 90 degrees at times--so I would hesitate to rent during August, but we were more interested in heat, which worked fine.

The unit we got did not have a dining table. Instead it had a counter with high chairs where the TV also sits. The sofa was a futon. The small kitchen was one of best stocked with dishes, pots/pans, and appliances that I have come across in a studio rental condo--no oven though.

Bathroom was tiny with no counter space.

Must drive to center of town or the only grocery.

We booked over the internet while still in New Zealand and from the photos it looked very modern however it does need some updating. Each unit is individually owned so the furnishings vary in each. We had a 2 bedroom unit on the bottom floor, with a king bed in one room and 2 single beds in the other. The kitchen, lounge area were spacious and had everything you need. With some updating they could be very nice units.

We only stayed for one night but will definitely go back again. We had 4 children with us and the pool was the hit. They had it to themselves all night. We stayed in #209 and it was so wonderful. The full kitchen was completely stocked-even a toaster, microwave, and standard sized oven and fridge. The fireplace made it very warm and cozy. The place made us feel like we were in someones home-pictures on the wall and lots of decorating. Not a hotel feeling at all. Great value for the price and the receptionist was very kind. I would recommend this to everyone.
We ate dinner at Bogarts. It was quite disappointing. One would expect Hollywood Glamour with a name like that but the decorating was all American country antiques and old rusty signs on the wall. I guess they are advertising this as a Mexican restaurant but they played hip-hop music, and served pizzas and burgers with the nachos and salsa. The marketing strategy is very confusing. But besides the disfunctional appearance and atmosphere, the food was terrible. We think the burgers and onion rings were right out of a frozen bag, and my daughter believes her mac and cheese was right out of the Kraft box. It was horrible and I would tell everyone to avoid this place.
On the flip side-breakfast at the Red Lodge Cafe was fantastic. We walked in and immediately felt like small town America and right at home. Powdered-sugar-dusted French Toast and Sourdough pancakes were served quickly and with a smile. I can't wait to go back to try their dinner.

We stayed at this hotel from Oct. 11-18. We booked it through our R.C.I. week as this is one of the very few R.C.I. units that are pet friendly. We made the 3 day drive from Atlanta with our 2 small dogs in tow and having stayed in R.C.I. units in the past 20 years we were somewhat expecting the worse.. What a shock- this is the best exchange we have ever had in over 20 vacations with R.C.I. The place was beautiful, we had a 2 bedroom unit with a full kitchen and cozy fireplace which was good as we needed it. The day we arrived Red Lodge had one of its earliest blizzards in over 40 years 3 1/2 FEET of snow fell in the first 24 hours we were there. We were completely snowed in for the first 48 hrs we were there. But it turned out great the owners are wonderful. In all our years of traveling I have never found such friendly accomodating people as they were. When the wood shed collapsed from all the snow and we ran out of wood for the fireplace they went to several vacant units and restocked our supply. Despite the blizzard conditions the owner was in the parking lot that day trying to plow all the snow from the parking lot. Another plus was the wonderful enclosed pool and hot tub area this place had. The heated pool was wonderful and the large hot tub was maintained at 105 degrees and was perfect. The management was constantly in and out making sure the area was clean with plenty of towels and the temp in the pool and hot tub remained constant. I can't say enough positive things about this place, its management, and the beautiful town of Red Lodge and its close location to Yellowstone National Park which was also great. David and Pat Smith

We stayed in a studio with full kitchen. These apartments are individually owned, so it's the luck of the draw. Ours was excellently furnished with moose and bear motifs on the quilt and cushions, and an extremely well-furnished kitchen. Air-conditioning functioned fine. There was a large dining table and four chairs, chest of drawers, closet and desk as well as a large couch that could be made into an extra bed. There is also a swimming pool and large lounge with fireplace available to residents. It was also one of the least expensive lodgings we had on our trip to Wyoming and Montana. The bill was considerably less than I had expected, the manager explained that they had just lowered their rates for off-season.
If you are lucky enough to be able to drive the Beartooth Highway, it makes a lot of sense to stop off in Red Lodge. It is an altogether charming small town, with enough infrastructure to be comfortable for the tourists without being "touristy" in the negative sense. Come sundown wildlife take over the town, the deer are everywhere.

After driving over the Beartooth Highway we spent the night at Chateau Rouge in Red Lodge. The manager was very nice. We has a studio condo on the second floor. The stairway leading up to the second floor was very dark, day and night, and the porchway leading to the rooms was dingy, with dirty carpet and dried bird droppings from birds nests above, clustered on the rails and floor. This was very very discouraging as we apporaoched our room but we were pleased when we got into the room. The studio room was spacious and clean. There was a very comfortable king sized bed. There was a table and bench set up (like a breakfast nook) which was comfortable. The small kitchen was complete with anything we might need. They do need to add some electrical plugs. We barely had enough for our phone chargers, cpap, etc.

While there, we ate at Red Lodge Pizza Company and had a wonderful meal with friendly prompt service and excellent barbequed chicken pizza. I will submit a review under the restaurant name.

  • Liked — comfortable bed
  • Disliked — old crunchy bird droppings under foot on the porch and porch railings, darkened stairways, kids running down the porch hallway

Each room/apartment is different. We had 2 rooms for 2 families traveling together. Comfortable beds, lots of space, full kitchens, pool and hot tub in good shape. It was exactly what we wanted.
