“delicious breakfast buffet”

How about warm biscotti and cheesy scrambled eggs as part of the buffet? Very attentive and friendly staff and a large variety of home-made, fresh delicious breakfast delights.

We had two lovely dinners at Chico Hit Springs. The food and beverage were second to none, and the service was over the top! We highly recommend the restaurant at Chico Hot Springs!

Delicious food, incredible service, romantic atmosphere, witty bartender. Try their signature orange dessert, it was mind-blowing.

“stick to the beef”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

We stayed at the resort, so ate here several times, and therefore had a chance to sample a number of different dishes. Basically, they do beef quite well. The prime rib and the steaks were all excellent. The seafood... not so much. (my mistake -- ordering seafood in Montana doesn't make sense, except for fresh trout, which was not on the menu) The oysters were scrawny and lacked flavor, as though they were shipped in a while ago and had lost weight while waiting for some poor fool like me to order then. The crabcake lacked crab flavor. The halibut was okay; I ordered it when we first arrived at the resort , but become suspicious of it when it was the "special of the day" every night we were there-- I guess they had a shipment of frozen halibut that lasted all week.

Bison is okay, but keep in mind that since it is lean, ask for it more rare than you usually might order your steak. The chef tried to be adventurous with some of the recipes, but some of the flavor combinations miss the mark -- port reduction sauce on the halibut, and chokecherry sauce on sea bass -- better to put those on meat. SImilarly, I liked the bison ravioli, but the cream sauce kept me from ordering it again -- not quite right.

The spinach salad is very nice. The orange flambe dessert was fun -- the other desserts were pleasant.

The service was very friendly, but varies greatly in terms of efficiency, depending on the waiter assigned. In addition, the main hostess was not very much on the ball. She would look at us blandly night after night and say that our table was not quite ready and that there was a lounge we could wait in (she never recognized us despite our visits several nights in a row). We learned not to wait in the lounge but to hover near the front desk or she would forget about us.

The atmosphere was appropriate for a family resort. Big rugged tables set up to accommodate a lot of people and a lot of food. It was rather dark, and it is too bad that they don't take advantage of their beautiful mountain setting to allow the restaurant to have a nice view. Not the place for a romantic dinner at all, but good for families as they are tolerant of noisy kids and well set up with high chairs and other kid-friendly needs.

In the end, we ended up canceling a number of our reservations for dinner and headed up the road to the Yellowstone Valley Lodge for dinner.
