Chico is a very interesting, fun and bustling place offering lots of entertainment options - horseback riding, swimming in the hot springs pool, a spa, dog sledding, hiking and bands in the bar plus it's haunted. It seemed to be a popular hangout for young adults as well as for families. Some of the rooms in the main lodge have to share a bath. The rooms there seemed very small and some were quite hot. There are many room options and the price was inexpensive. The lobby is homey with a fireplace although I never saw it lit . The food was very good in the poolside dining and the main dining room. It was about 45 minutes away from the north entrance of Yellowstone so close but not convenient to go back and forth.

Room Tip: We stayed in the lower lodge and while it was a short walk to the main lodge, the room was much bigg...

Stayed here for one night to relax and enjoy the hot springs(which are awesome). Hotel itself is old and unique lots of character. We choose to dine in the hotels restaurant, our bar tender who also doubled as our waiter was great, nicest guy in the place! However we could not order food from the tables in the bar so we had to sit crammed on high stools at the bar counter while eating our meal?? The restaurant food leaves alot to be desired. Over priced and far too many flavors going on at once, in all our courses! I do not understand the hype the restaurant has received!
Upon check out the front desk lady was unimpressed with our thinking breakfast was included in the room thus having left the restaurant without paying. Nothing was mentioned about payment by any restaurant staff member plus it was buffet so how were we supposed to know? She never asked us how our stay was or thanked us when we were leaving. But hey who needs a simple thank you?? We won't be back..

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am sorry our Guest Services crew did not ask about your stay, or say thank you upon departure - that certainly is not our style! We appreciate all of our guests, and on behalf of the owners and staff at Chico Hot Springs, thank you for staying with us!

I think there was some confusion over your dining options. Our fine dining restaurant certainly does offer table service with reservations, and we highly recommend reservations. We ask every guest making room reservations if they'd like dining reservations, and we email every guest who has booked on line and inquire about dining reservations. If you did not have dining reservations, it may have been recommended that you sit in the restaurant lounge, and order from the bartender at the bar there. We do this to help accommodate folks without dining reservations, however the two small tables in the lounge are not conducive to dinner service, so unfortunately no, we do not serve food at those two tables.

The Poolside Grille and Saloon also both offer dining - at tables - for lunch and dinner. There is a lot to do, see and experience at Chico, and for guests who have not stayed with us before, we are happy to assist with any questions or concerns you might have - just ask, and we'll happily answer your questions and help make your experience memorable and enjoyable.

Spent two nights in Rustic Cabin 2. This is a very small cabin with room for two double beds and that is it - no hanging out in this cabin except to sleep. That being said, who would go to this beautiful place to lounge in your cabin? Soaking in the beautiful, super clean, no stinky chlorine hot springs, hiking to the top of the mountains for amazing views of the magnificent Paradise Valley, driving into Yellowstone Park and seeing bison, elk, deer, antelope, mountain sheep...not to mention looking forward to dinner in the restaurant. If you really want to sit and read or play cribbage or knit there is a welcoming (and warm) lounging area in the lodge with a huge soap stone wood stove to keep you toasty warm. I would highly recommend this place to everyone who shares the sentiment that so far, 2014 has brought us a longggg cold winter.

This place left such a bad taste in my mouth. I will try to be short ...

When you got to an "it" spot, there are entitlement issues. This time it was with clientele and the staff. It all started at check-in when the lady in front of me threw a fit about a fee about a debit card charge, including eye-rolling and talking as loud as her reconstructed face would allow. I felt so sorry for the woman working that I tried to be extra nice to the staff from that point on. The service was not returned. The worst was the morning when we were checking out, my family was out dog-sledding (totally great btw) and left my elderly Step-dad to put the pet in the car. The pet ran away and my SD spent HOURS looking for her. When the cleaners came (who did not bother to tidy our place the day before) they said "no problem, we will come back when we clean the other places" with big smiles on their faces. They then proceeded to to call management to complain that we had not bothered to check out - as if we were all there lounging around. Not very pet-friendly. Management left a NASTY message on my phone yelling at me to "Get out now" in her best impression of a sixteen year old bringing down her parents which I received a day later because of not having cell phone service.

This place was supposed to be a relaxing stop on or cross-country move, and a very stressful time in our lives. The staff just added more anxiety frankly. Chico, in of itself, is not worth the trip.

Room Tip: The chalets are nice, but you do have to drive to the hot springs making it less convenient.

Sorry to hear you had an unfavorable experience at Chico - it certainly does not sound like our staff at all! In fact, I know our managers would never speak that way to a guest! We always appreciate that when a guest has a challenge or concern, that they talk to us about it while they are still here, while we still have the opportunity to make a difference and we can do something about it. I'm certain more than one of our staff members would have been happy to help find the lost dog, as we are VERY pet friendly, and our guest services and management team would have helped accommodate your needs had they been brought to our attention by the guest in need. We certainly are not perfect, but we are willing to help our guests on many levels, we just need to know what's happening and what those needs are.

Great food and service. But the best is the warm, clear (no smell) water! The place is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Plenty to do all year round. It has the charm of both old and new. Since it has been there since 1897, you can see why it is popular.

Room Tip: For quiet, do not stay in the old section. For easier access to the water, stay in the old section.
