I highly recommend The Broadway Hotel in Philipsburg to anyone traveling to this quaint historic town or to anywhere in the surrounding area. The charm of this ‘painted lady’ begins with your first glimpse as you drive into town. The charm continues within: ‘themed’ rooms await every guest, and I was able to select my special room of interest with online booking prior to my arrival. Equally appealing is the spacious “Great Room,” which is very inviting with its location in the center of the hotel, used by guests for reading - Montana history, travel, nature, reference, etc. – and, tables for playing games or eating, a TV, computer, fireplace, etc. In short, it is well appointed with something for everyone. I’ve stayed in 100s of hotels and The Broadway Hotel has a refreshing uniqueness about it that I’ve not seen elsewhere. The gracious owner and hostess, Sue, makes sure that every guest is comfortable and enjoying their experience at the hotel. I heartily give this ‘painted lady’ a 5+ star rating!

Room Tip: Go online to view each themed room and select your favorite; the price is right.

Stopped in for a night at Philipsburg on July 4th, when driving enroute to Yellowstone. The 2 lane highway Philipsburg is off of, provides a relaxing alternate when travelling between Missoula and Butte.
We got to the hotel after 6pm so Sue had everything ready for our arrival with a note explaining how to let ourselves in. We loved our Britannia Suite that looked over the main street of the town. It was roomy, comfortable and just perfect for my husband, 12 year old son and I.
Since it was a holiday, things were pretty quiet (except for a few fireworks) but we enjoyed visiting a nearby ghost town and had a simple but enjoyable meal across the street at Doe Brothers (mainly due to Cody, our waiter who is a wonderful (and funny) young man working there for the summer).
It was great to see Sue in the morning and my hat is off to her for the beautiful job she has done with this hotel and for the beauty it adds to Philipsburg. The Broadway is a great place to hang your hat in a lovely town that allows you a glimpse into the past while still enjoying the conveniences of today.
A most pleasant and welcome respite!

We happened upon this tasteful little hotel when traveling around Montana. It is a wonderful surprise found in the charming town of Philipsburg. The rooms are unique and each has a theme. We were in the Britainnia Suite which offered perfect accommodations for us. Continental breakfast with a great variety of foods, a large lovely lounge area and a warm friendly hostess, Sue Jenner, made it a wonderful experience and a great value. I would go out of my way to return.

Room Tip: Describe your needs and Sue will match you up. There are lots of options.

I have never received such poor customer service in my life. Sue, the owner, was rude and acted very immature upon our arrival. She scolded the staff because the doors were not locked and we entered the hotel before the 3 PM check-in. She then felt the need to scold us for entering, that is not how guests at any hotel should ever be treated! She told us the furniture was broken in the room we reserved and she informed us of extra charges for linens and breakfast which was not advertised on the website. When we asked to cancel our reservation, she initially refused to do so, then after much debate, she refused to rent us a room. That was certainly a blessing!!! Please do not trust a thing this woman says!! I don't care how historic Phillipsburg may be, take your business to the Inn at Phillipsburg. You will be much happier with the owner, and glad you are treated like a valued customer.

Room Tip: Go to the Inn at Philipsburg!!

We are sorry that you felt you received poor customer service. As noted in several reviews The Broadway Hotel is known for warm and personal customer service. In the hotel website and confirmation letter sent out with all reservations, it is clearly stated that check-in is after 3PM. The hotel staff was still cleaning at the early time you wanted to check into your room. The website also lists in the section "About our Rooms" that there is an additional charge of $10 for each person in the room over the double occupancy. With all the additions to the reservation that were not addressed at the time the reservation was made, I am sorry you declined to stay with us. You were given the opportunity and we respect that you choose not to accept our offer to assist you.
Sincerely,

We stopped here for one night en route from Glacier to Yellowstone and were really sorry that we didn't have longer. The historic building is fantastic and it's been beautifully restored to create a quirky, atmospheric, stylish and very comfortable hotel, with far more in the way of facilities than you would normally expect to find. The huge guest "sitting" room is absolutely beautiful and each room has a completely different theme. The whole place is so much fun, but there is no compromise on comfort. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious. Sue is an amazing hotellier -so welcoming, hospitable and efficient - a stay here is highly recommended.

Three of us stayed there and were amazed at not only the quaint ambiance of the decorations but also the friendly british disposition of our hostess Sue Jenner who immediately made us feel comfortable. We did not expect the charm of this hotel to have such an impact on our road travel weary minds. We stayed in the Sportsmans Suite which we found very suitable and accomodative.

I booked our room online for the first night of our 3 week road trip. We arrived after hours and found our room keys taped on the guest entrance door, just as the website said they would be. The Wrangler Room was done up in classy, classic western style! The beds were very comfortable; the bathroom serviceable and clean.

Because the hotel is historic, it doesn't have the construction of any present day hotel/motel. The floors squeak and the walls are thin and somehow this adds to The Broadway's charm. Guests should be mindful, especially after hours, that voices carry and soft voices are appreciated.

Breakfast was light but with a nice array of cereals, muffins, seasonal fruit, cold ham slices and cheeses, juice, tea, and lots of coffee!

After breakfast we headed off to Gem Mountain to find our sapphires, well before the town opened for business. We would love to explore this quaint Montana town and I know we'll be back! And we will definitely stay at The Broadway!
(Sue, I hope your back is feeling better!)
