“The Goldsmith's Inn is a great choice.”
Reviewed July 15, 2006

The Goldsmith's Inn is one of the most comfortable B & B's I have visited. The rooms are nicely decorated but still remain comfortable. I recommend one of the suites facing the river on the second floor...peaceful and spacious. The rooms had so many thoughtful touches such as refrigerators, hairdriers, comfortable couches, televisions, and small balconies or fireplaces. The showers were excellent. Breakfast was perfect: coffee, toast, pastry, cereal and juice was set up for you to help yourself anytime. Once you settled in you were offered an entree with a choice of breakfast meat. The staff was extremely nice and very accomodating. They provided us with a place to lock our bikes (Missoula is a great place to bike) and helped with anything we needed. When we first approached the Inn we were a little put off with the fact that it was next door to a restaurant and ice cream shop. However, the concern was unfounded. The ice cream was delicious and the restaurant was not a disturbance. It was actually convenient to have it there the first night when we were too tired to find another place for dinner after a long day of driving. The next night we found an excellent restaurant just a few blocks away...don't miss The Pearl. The Goldsmith's Inn helped make our trip to Montana enjoyable!

We've just returned from a much awaited vacation to Wyoming and our first Bed and Breakfast experience, ever! We stayed at Goldsmith's Inn not once, but twice (on our way to Wyoming and on our return home) and we loved everything about it! From the charm of the Inn itself (it reminded me of my childhood home), to our rooms overlooking the river, it was an experience we intend to repeat, without a doubt! The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable, each with their own bathroom! We loved being able to sit on the community porch and watch the birds, fishermen, people walking or biking at the University of Montana and especially, the tranquility of the sounds from the Clark Fork River. The second time around we stayed in room #1, with its' own private porch and that was absolutely the best! Our breakfasts were delicious and nutritional, and the staff were very warm and friendly We also liked the convenience of the Wingery next door, and of course, the ice cream store being right there! It was a perfectly delightful visit and we'll look forward to our next visit - hopefully next summer!

I went to college in Missoula at the University of Montana and have fond memories of walking over the campus footbridge to get ice cream at Goldsmith's ice cream. I didn't know there was a bed and breakfast next door and was delighted to book it on a recent trip back for a rejuvenating weekend. What a treat! From the initial phone conversation with Dick Goldsmith to the tasty breakfasts prepared by Aubrey, it was wonderful. And Missoula is all I remembered and that much more. The view is fabulous and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, and I took advantage of it - hiking the "M" and running the trails along the river every morning. I'm really not sure why Goldsmith's doesn't get more air time on TripAdvisor, but it is a great place to book your next stay. It seems they are consistently busy - even in the off season - and now I know why. Now I just need to figure out how to move back to Montana and earn a living...
