“Informative visit for the whole family!”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

During a long weekend back to Missoula to visit family, my husband and I decided to walk through the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation up Grant Creek. As soon as you walk through the main doors you see an amazing display of animals.

This facility is a well-planned walk through of nature of the local environment. Beautifully displayed and there is so much information available to read. Also, there is an area with a video presentation.

Enjoy walking through the gift shop, and the employees here are happy to answer any questions that you have in the Foundation. It is a family destination on a cold afternoon in Missoula. For the many years that we have driven up Grant Creek further to our family's home, why did we not stop in sooner????

Both hunters and non-hunters will enjoy and learn while walking through the Foundation's displays. There is plenty of parking here as well!

“Fascinating and entertaining”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

This place is a great tour for kids and adults alike. Since Missoula is a major hub for firefighters, equipment etc., it's all here. Spring thru fall would be best time to visit as lots going on. You get to go into a tanker plane if here, see firefighters sewing their own packs, see where parachutes are hanging and how they're packed, etc. Very interesting and helps one appreciate what firefighters do. For teens, tots and adults.

“Great side trip that doesn't take all day.”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

I learned a lot about the Elk and the ecology of the area. Not to mention about the Foundation. It is small so that you can learn and enjoy without being too daunting that you get bored. It would have been nice if there nature area was bigger. We did spot a mule deer having dinner in the area as well as a snake.

“Worthwhile Exhibit”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Very well done exhibit depicting the wildlife indiginous to the area, and how the elk population is recovering from near depletion due to over hunting and hibitat loss. It is free.
