What a treat (literally) the Dipper is. Even on a sleepy Tuesday there was a line! The help is gracious, offering as many samples as you like. When my husband spilled most of his swirl (his fault), it was replaced immediately. We heard they have a "frequent flyer" card; we'd definitely sign up if we lived close by!

“Best Ice Cream in Montana”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

It's the go-to place for real ice cream - always a special treat! Don't be put off by long lines; they go very quickly, so your wait is usually no more than 15 or 20 minutes (and often less). And they will give you samples of the ice cream to help you decide!

“Worth the wait!”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

We turned the corner and saw the line but we parked and got in it anyway! It was worth it as the ice cream was very good and we loved all the flavor choices. I had to have the Huckleberry ice cream of course but I really want to go back one day to try Green Tea!

“Perfect, creamy goodness on a hot day”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

Following a hot, exhausting soccer game, we went to find the famed Big Dipper to cool off a bit. We just got the "single scoop" in a cup, but they were awesome and let us have two different flavors! So, I tried out the Mexican Chocolate and Cardamom (MMMMMM!!!), another friend had Coconut and Mocha Chip, and the other had El Salvador Coffee and Huckleberry. All were splendid!
The line wasn't too bad when we got there, but I can imagine how crazy it could get during "peak" hours! It's worth it!

“Line up for a dip”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

We are picky ice cream eaters as my husband was professionally trained in ice cream making (Yes there really are professional ice cream schools). The Big Dipper does a fine job with their ice cream. It has good texture and was served near the proper temperature. They have mostly mainstream flavors and not many really creative flavors. Their waffle cones are not homemade and, as such, are very think. Compared to a Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone Creamery they are excellent but they are a notch below Sweet Peaks in Whitefish, Big Fork and Kalispell. Note: we do not own or work for any ice cream maker and have no affiliation with Sweet Peaks; we are just ice cream lovers.
