We've visited Famous Dave's in Minnesota, Virginia, Florida and California and now Missoula. the food is almost identical, and is always well prepared and tasty. We usually overeat and suffer afterwords, but never stop doing the same things the next visit. The beer and wine menu is very good, varying between Famous Dave's sites. Fortunately the system has dropped the one weak item, the soaked corn cob, as of January, moving it from automatic service to an option. Corn fritters are now terrific, if you have room in addition to items like St. Louis ribs, pulled pork or the terrific sausage. The house sauce on all meat is very good, but in addition Dave's offers four other sauces for experiment or pouring onto everything. Devils' Spit is very good, as is the hot and sweet. The cost is reasonable. Service is quick and pretty good. However, we watched a couple come into the restaurant, look for a person to seat them and finally gave up and left. We raised the question with our server, who said quietly that the hostess was off today and it was on the staff. He said, "Staff here is required to be swift but not to be smart." I'd experienced a similar event in Richmond,Virginia, when I was seated and then ignored for ten minutes while I sat and read, apparently having fallen between table areas between two waitresses. Having seen two events in seven different Famous Dave's convinced me that more oversight from headquarters would improve service.

If you like Famous Dave's, you'll like this location. If you haven't tried it, you are in for a treat. And the price is reasonable.
