Owner description: This beautiful carousel, completed in 1995, was the brainchild and vision of a local Missoula cabinet-maker, who carved much of the structure himself and also trained an enthusiastic team of volunteers to assist in the project.

I like the carousel. There's a dragon. They have a gift shop that has cute postcards. And this is right next to the Clark-Fork river so the view is quite lovely. And you can walk here from the transfer center downtown.

“The grand kids had fun! The Park next door was a great place for them to play and run before dinner!”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

The girls had a fun time picking out the "right" horse to ride. Some horses do go up and down while a few are stationary.

“A great place for kids of all ages”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

A carousel with beautifully hand-carved horses is such fun! It is a pretty fast ride and there are not only handsome steeds but also several "chariots" for parents to ride with younger kids. The workers are kind and attentive. If you have a child with a disability they can ride for free and there is even a portable ramp they can pull out to allow the kids to get on the ride. A local favorite for birthday parties!

“Fun attraction for kids in Missoula”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We enjoyed A Carousel for Montana and Dragon Hollow on a sunny Saturday in March. It is open 11:00 until 5:30 Sept - May and 11-7 June -Aug. the ride is .75 for kids under 16. It is a beautiful carousel right on the river in downtown Missoula. They have a small gift shop and restrooms. They even have the grab for the brass ring if you have nice long arms.

Right next to it is a great playground called Dragon Hollow. The kids 4 & 6 had a blast climbing running, going down fun twisty (dark) slides. There was also a section for very small kids. Every town should have a fun free playground like this. It's large, imaginative and free. The kids loved it!

“Feel like a kid again!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is one place in Missoula we love to take our out of town guests. It allows the older ones to feel young at heart, and us too. The carousel is located in a riverfront park area, with an immediate view of the Clark Fork River. I recommend walking up or down the river trail and loop back across one of the street bridges for a great view of the city. The carousel itself is a work of art with hand crafted wood horses, each one custom made by local Missoulians.
